Today I’d like to spend some time talking about many different aspects of basic security protocols that could be used during that sacred evening of sugar overload. Most of us don’t think about security on the night of fun, however, it’s also the most opportunistic.

Today I’d like to talk about the stereotypes we hear about all the time about “those guys” who wear cammies, don’t talk much and are as backwater as they come. This can be no further from the truth, as a matter-of-fact, many high tech gadgetry is associated with survival as disaster preparedness. Those out there who decide to listen to the naysayers of the world, wind up in a really bad place, when they really don’t. I’d like to clear up some misconceptions about being prepared.

Chip was born and raised in Tampa, Florida in 1962 and graduated from the University of South Florida in 1983 with a B.A. in Criminal Justice. He worked with the Tampa Police Department for 30 years (1983 – 2013) and retired as a detective. Chip is best known for his work in Organized Crime, Public Corruption, Adult Entertainment and being a Whistleblower.  He co-founded the LEOAFFAIRS.COM law enforcement website in 2002 which sold in 2014. Chip created the LEO Round Table law enforcement talk show on 12/14/2015 of which he is currently the host.

Today I want to talk about maintaining the gains we’ve made by gathering all our resources, skills, and knowledge about survival. We need to constantly test our skills to ensure we don’t get too rusty, in addition to maintaining our resources reserved for survival needs.

Audrey Gray is an Emergency Programs Manager for the Municipality of Anchorage Office of Emergency Management.  She grew up in Wyoming and later attended Colorado State University where she earned her B.S. in Microbiology.  She is a former Peace Corps Volunteer and has worked for the Casper-Natrona County Health Department (Casper, WY) as an Environmental Health Specialist and the Public Health Preparedness Manager for 16 years.

In an earlier episode of “Security Management” magazine they broached the topic of theft during, and immediately following a large scale natural disaster. On many shows here at the Chaotic Navigator we have discussed the “opportunistic criminals” that have typically lurked in the shadows of these larger scale events (do you remember the BLM protests that turned into riots). These types of incidents are driven by the criminal elements among us to distract us from their petty theft.
