ONE THING: Sin free through Christ in me.

1 Peter 4:1-2

CONTEXT: Who you live for will determine the intensity of your suffering and joy.

What does it take to cease sinning?

   The heart, mind, soul and strength of Jesus Christ as modeled in the Bible and by maturing Christians.

Why are our human lusts an enemy to our soul?

   They seek to replace or be equal to God's perfect will for our lives.

Based on this message what can you do bring God glory and make disciples?

Gospel- Centered = 

Worship: Arm yourself with the mind of Christ. What does the Bible say Jesus would think, say and do then think, say and do that.

Community: Sin less and less. Rely on the power of God to overcome temptation so it doesn't turn into sin.

Service: Serve God first and foremost. Do His will not yours more and more.

Multiplication: String more and more faithful days together. If you miss a day start again.

ONE THING: Jesus Christ saves and baptism shows the way.

   Baptism = An outward public expression of your already inner faith in Jesus Christ. 

1 Peter 3:20

CONTEXT: It's about Jesus Christ who can save and baptism that celebrates that fact.

   If your faith is not public, then it has no purpose.

After baptism how can we prove that our faith in Jesus Christ is real?

   Bible believe and Bible model. 

Why should what Jesus wants never be equal to or second place to anything in our life?

   Because He can perfectly do things you could never dream of and lead you through what would destroy.

Based on this message what can you do to become more like Jesus?

Gospel- Centered = 

Worship: Be Saved, Be Baptized. Celebrate the Savior's forgiveness of your sins.

Community: Believe, Be Biblical. Be a Christian who brings God's best to a situation.

Service: Be There. Encourage others to live out their faith by how you love them.

Multiplication: Be Aware. Celebrate when Jesus does a good thing in someone's life.

ONE THING: Jesus Christ saves and baptism shows the way.

ONE THING: God’s grace gives us today to obey. 

1 Peter 3:18-20

Jesus Christ was put to death in the flesh so we could be made alive in the spirit. 

What are two of the many reasons that Jesus suffered on the cross for your neighbor?

   That He might bring us to God and so that we could be made alive in our spirit.  

How can we proclaim the freedom of being saved by grace through faith to our family, co-workers and neighbors?

   Say what the Bible says and do what the Bible says to do. 

For someone who doesn’t know Jesus as Lord and Savior what is so amazing about grace?

   It saves you from the wages of sin which is spiritual death, it is a free gift of God for all who ask and receive it. Heaven waits when you die and Jesus never leaves you or forsakes you in this life. 

Based on this message what can you do to become more like Jesus?

Gospel- Centered = 

Worship: Trust in and obey today. Salvation isn’t an option it’s the only option! Be forgiven and live like it!!!

Community: Proclaim the Way of Jesus. Use your actions and utterances to draw people closer to God and strengthen their biblical responses to life. 

Service: Fill the gaps with grace. Be patient with God, others and yourself. Allow grace to permeate the moment so that Jesus Christ can dwell in the heart. 

Multiplication: Invite others to acts of real kindness with you. Be prepared to engage others with your time, talents and treasures so that they can draw closer to God, saved or not. 

ONE THING: What we do in Christ will reveal the truth of Christ. 

1 Peter 3:16-17

CONTEXT: Jesus Christ has overcome lies and suffering. 

   You can’t control what people say about you but you can influence who they see through you, Jesus Christ. 

Faithfulness starts with your surrenderedness.

Good conscience (biblical morality) and good behavior (biblical responses) in Christ lessens the impact of lies people say about us Christians. 

When we have a good conscience and good behavior in Christ what are some of the benefits?

   We will never have to worry about what people say about us in our faithfulness. 

Doing good for God’s will is a better reason to suffer than because of evil. 

The truth is suffering in this life is inescapable. 

There is a good purpose for suffering in the Sovereignty of God. 

   Suffering for doing God’s will shows He is real because it brings Him glory and makes disciples. 

   Suffering for not doing God’s will shows He is real because it robs us of purpose and joyful contentment. 

Obedience and submission leads to the protection and provision of Christ. 

As a Christian, what are some of the benefits of suffering for doing good?

   We know that Jesus Christ will protect and provide for us through the Holy Spirit no matter what!

Based on this message what can you do to become more like Jesus?

Gospel- Centered = 

Worship: Discover good biblical responses. During your Bible study ask God to show you how to respond to life biblically.

Community: Christlikeness overcomes rumors every time in God’s eyes. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, soul and strength while loving your neighbor as yourself. 

Service: Suffer with purpose and meaning. Suffering for doing God’s will strengthens your joyful contentment as a Christian. 

Multiplication: Share hope and courage in Christ. Through obedience and submission we can lead others to the protection and provision of Christ.

ONE THING: A heart committed to Christ can endure any hardship. 

        Because the strength comes from Jesus Christ. 2 Cor. 12:9-10

1 Peter 3:13-15

CONTEXT: A strong Christian is not easily swayed away from God’s plan for the day.

What should we remember when we suffer for being a Christian?

   Even if…hardship comes from following Jesus’ Lordship, remember we are always better off in discipleship with Christ.

How does God want us to respond to those who want us to suffer for loving Christ?

   Gently and respectfully without fear or trepidation.

Based on this message what can you do to become more like Jesus?

Gospel- Centered = 

Worship: Mimic the Messiah. Turn to God often in solitary places to strengthen your heart for God’s good road before you. 

Community: Suffer well for the Savior. He lived, died, rose again for your freedom from sin. Love like Christ, live like Jesus.

Service: Hand out hope in Jesus. Be ready through study and discerning through the Holy Spirit to share your love for Jesus.

Multiplication: Share the biblical truth in brotherly love. Anyone, anywhere, anytime.

ONE THING: God looks, listens and interacts with everyone.   

1 Peter 3:12

CONTEXT: God has the perfect plan for everything He sees and hears. 

      God sees and hears everything. 

Jesus watches over the righteous. 

Jesus listens to the requests of the righteous. 

How should we respond to Jesus as He looks and listens to us all?

   With Christlike actions (Obediently)and daily conversation (Prayer). 

The Sovereign plan is in place for victory. 

What is the proper response when we discover that Jesus’ face is set against us or someone we meet?

  Turn to Repentance, Receive Forgiveness and Act like Christ. 

Reflect a moment…

When Jesus looks your way what does He see and hear?

Based on this message what can you do to become more like Jesus?

Gospel- Centered = 

Worship: Refuge in the living room of Jesus. Learn His ways and responses. Study the Bible and converse with other God fearing Christians. 

Community: Create space for Christlikeness. Make it easy for yourself and others to act, feel, speak and believe in Jesus.

Service: On your knees for the need. Pray specifically for those that Jesus’ has set His face against because they are doing evil. That they will stop doing evil and do biblical good. 

Multiplication: Be a model of biblical obedience and prayer. Lead others to Jesus by being an example of faithfulness and a healthy relationship with God. 

ONE THING: Loving life and seeing good days is a result of living in a God honoring way.

1 Peter 3:10-11

CONTEXT: God's way is always the better way you will learn that from regret or relief.

Regret = I should have...    Relief = I am so glad I did.

God is pretty clear on this point, the outcome of the words you say has a huge impact on all your days. 

How do we keep our tongue from evil and our lips from speaking deceit?

   Only speak what builds up others and demonstrates kindness.

An important step, is to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit to a place of peace / contentment you fight hard to defend. 

How can we turn from evil, do good and pursue peace?

   Don't ever trade away doing good for any person, place or thing and only say what honors God. 

Based on this message what can you do to become more like Jesus?

Gospel- Centered 

Worship Express gratitude to God and about others. Practice makes perfect. A wonderful place to start learning how to speak good in public is by doing it during your private time with God.

Community: Build up instead of tear down with your words. Only speak what builds up others and demonstrates kindness.

Service: Turn to do good more and more. Our response to everything should be doing what honors God no matter what was done to us.

Multiplication: Pursue peace with others. Say and do what unites people together so that God gets the praise and credit.

ONE THING: Give Christlike kindness to those who mistreat you. 

   Actions and words have great impact when they are done to show the love of God and Christlikeness.

1 Peter 3:8-9

CONTEXT: Kingdom of God culture has a better response to the hardships of life.

   The more we love like Christ and live like Jesus the better chance others will as well.

Go the extra mile to demonstrate love that draws people closer to God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit for salvation and Christlikeness.

God makes sun rise on evil and good, the rain fall on the just and unjust 

Jesus died and rose for the forgiveness of all sins. 

The Holy Spirit of God can dwell in all people

What are some of the qualities and characteristics a Christian needs to handle difficult people?

   A tender and humble heart paired with compassionate acts.

Why does God call us to bless others who mistreat us?

   Because it can stop evil from prevailing, slow down people hurting people and prepares us all for God’s blessings.

You obtain blessings from God by being a blessing for God. 

Based on this message what can you do to become more like Jesus?

Gospel- Centered = 

Worship: Look over what you do and say. Ask God to evaluate your actions and words so that they may become more biblical.

Community: Show God’s love. Be compassionate as God is compassionate.

Service: Serve like Jesus Christ. Help others see how to biblically handle life.

Multiplication: Show the biblical response to hardship. Speak words that build up others and encourage them to act like Jesus.

ONE THING: Jesus' death and resurrection means that you can be set free and more than conquerors in this life and the next.

Romans 8:31-34

CONTEXT: The price Jesus paid for us to be set free was enormous. 

Based on this message what can we do to become more like Jesus?

Gospel- Centered = 

Worship: Be Set Free. Both receive and give grace. Offer your body as a living sacrifice holy and pleasing unto the Lord.

Gospel- Centered = 

Community: Live As More Than Conquerors. Like Jesus, obey the Bible in word, thought and deed.

Gospel- Centered = 

Service: Die To Self, Turn The Other Cheek. God's Will done each and every day as the Holy Spirit leads.

Gospel- Centered = 

Multiplication: Lead people to the Risen Jesus. So that they too may be set free from what is trying to separate them from His and God's love.
