ONE THING: Humility has got to be the response from me. 

1 Peter 5:3-5

CONTEXT: Humble pie or humble hat that’s where you are at with God and others. 

Why is being an example of Jesus Christ the best way to lead all others?

   1 Peter 4:11... in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Why is the return of Jesus Christ so important to helping us stay humble?

   Luke 15:24 Prodigal Son = For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.’ And they began to celebrate.

How can we clothe ourselves in humility?

   Receive grace and release better-than-youness 

Based on this message what can you do to become more like Jesus?

Gospel- Centered = 

Worship: Humble yourself before God. Ask God if you are domineering or an example of Christ to those around you. 

Community: Humble yourself before others. Don’t do what you feel like doing but how faith directs you.

Service: Submit yourself to the wiser Christian. Learn from others how to biblically lead others through.

Multiplication: Prioritize Humility. Help others to think of themselves less instead of thinking less of themselves.

ONE THING: We are called to love the way God loves us.

  BIBLICALLY to Love like Christ, Live like Jesus

      Discipline and delight, Faithfulness and friendliness.

1 Peter 5:1-2

CONTEXT: A mature Christian cares for others so they may draw closer to God and become more like Jesus.

   Study your Bible, Pray to God, Serve as God leads.

Peter is calling / inviting / imploring the mature Christians in the body of Christ to action.

Remember all those who are mature in the faith where once immature, it's a process of sanctification and holiness.

Why does Peter emphasize so many things he has in common with other Christians?

   Because the body of Christ is at its best when it is heart, mind, soul and strength are TOGETHER!!!! 

We are to be AMONG each other, to stay committed and return to in-person worship and relationships in community.

We are to LOOK AFTER /CARE for each other with grace, in biblical truth and lovingly.

We are to have the HEART SET to "We don't have to, we get to...bring God glory and make disciples through gospel-centered worship, community, service, multiplication."

We are to OBEY AND FOLLOW THROUGH  with God's will, expressed by His Sovereign Will.

   Created Purpose in action as God directs the use of your time, talents and treasures.

We are faithful to God with BRISK CHEERFULNESS so that others may know God's best.

What is one of the only ways we can accomplish what God would have us to do?

   Together for His glory, His way with cheerfulness, in the name of Jesus Christ.

Based on this message what can you do to become more like Jesus?

Gospel- Centered = 

Worship: Learn to discern the Way of God. Study the Bible. Study other mature Christians. Study what God blesses in your life.

Community: Purposely be among other Christians. Make time to take time to spend time with the family of God.

Service: Look after and care for others. Live each day as God would have you.

Multiplication:  Be glad you're a part of the family of God. Your cheerfulness in the midst of faithfulness will draw people towards God's holiness.

ONE THING: God's will is faithfulness to Him over fitting in with them.

When life is hard hope in Heaven. more focus on God and to do good.

1 Peter 4:17-19

CONTEXT: Doing good for God is hard sometimes but always worth it both now and forever.

Why tell all of humanity that judgment has begun?

It shows God’s love publicly, reminds us of our need for Jesus Christ and so we can love others similarly.

How is someone considered righteous?

Salvation and by living life the way the Bible instructs.

Why should we trust God and do good in the midst of our suffering?

It is the best way to handle suffering of any kind.

Based on this message what can you do to become more like Jesus?

Gospel- Centered = 

Worship: Offer your bodies as a living sacrifice. This is your spiritual act of worship. Romans 12:1

Community: Obey God's divine law in everything. Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness. Matthew 6:33

Service: Invite others to worship and walk with Jesus with you. Bring others into how you love like Christ and live like Jesus.

Multiplication: When the going gets tough, give it all to God. Do biblical good to bring God glory and make disciples as often as possible.

ONE THING: Glorify God’s name instead of being ashamed.

 People will want you to suffer for being a Christian, our response is to give God praise and credit.

1 Peter 4:14-16

CONTEXT: Insults are a good thing when you have just done a God thing.

   We exist to bring GOD glory and make disciples.

      That is going to cause people to feel a certain kind of way about life.

How can the spirit of glory and of God rest on you?

   1. Salvation

   2. Bring God glory and make disciples

What do we learn about suffering in 1 Peter 4:15?

   Not all suffering is godly suffering.

What is the way through suffering?

   Proclaim praise and credit to God.

Based on this message what can you do to become more like Jesus?

Gospel- Centered = 

Worship: God’s blessings rest on the Christlike. So study the Bible and walk in relationship with Jesus to be more like Christ.

Community: Suffer for God’s good purpose to be done. It isn’t always easy but it is always better to serve the Lord.

Service: Show the Savior sustains in your suffering. Confidence in Christ instead of control of the circumstances.

Multiplication: Praise and credit for God draws people to God. When they know God’s getting you through it’ll encourage them to follow him too.

ONE THING: Joy in trials, joy in faith, Jesus is on His way.

1 Peter 4:12-13   

CONTEXT: Life is hard on all of us and only Jesus can give us joy through it all.

What should we believe when our Christian faith is tested?

   Remember you are loved and provided for by God.

How should we respond when our Christian faith is tested?

   Joyfully, because Christ stands with us now through the Holy Spirit and one day face to face.

Based on this message what can you do to become more like Jesus?

Gospel- Centered = 

Worship: Remind yourself of how much God loves you. Read John 3:16-18, 16:27, 1 Corinthians 8:3, 1 John 4, 5

Community: Faith over freaking out, every time. Remember Jesus has seen and overcome it all before. As a Christian you are in good hands, trust Him. 

Service: Outward joy for others journey. Be a model of faith filled joy as you face trials and tests. It will show others that Jesus is real. 

Multiplication: Tell others Jesus is on His way. To help and one day to stay. 

ONE THING: Biblical good done in Jesus’ name shows God’s grace.

1 Peter 4:9-11

CONTEXT: When you use the gifts God has given you everyone can draw closer to God when you use it!!

Why does grumbling stifle hospitality?

  Because it reveals the heart has already decided it doesn’t want to lovingly serve that way.

Why is it so important to realize the giftedness you have is from God?

  Because when you realize that God has showed you unmerited favor that leads to courageous living. 

Who decides how the gift you have is used?

 God the Father, Jesus Savior & King and the Holy Spirit who guides and comforts. 

Our role, your role, surrender and submission.

Based on this message what can you do to become more like Jesus?

Gospel- Centered = 

Worship: Pray to know and refine His gift to you. Ask God for direction and deployment of how to use His grace gift.

Community: Steward well what belongs to God. You have been given gifts not for the advancement of your gratification but God’s glorification. 

Service: Seek to serve others for God. When you serve others for God it will draw them closer to God. 

Multiplication: Gift guide others to God. Let the example of your life lead others to God by way of Jesus and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

ONE THING: There is no time to waste in loving others into the Kingdom of God

1 Peter 4:7-8

CONTEXT: Obedience and endurance to God's will are vital to all loving relationships.

What does it mean to be self-controlled and sober-minded?

   You obey God's Word and keep doing His will.

How can love cover over a multitude of sins?

   By being saved and sanctified.

      By grace through faith and arming ourselves to respond like Jesus Christ.

Based on this message what can you do bring God glory and make disciples?

Gospel- Centered = 

Worship: Love like Jesus is coming back today. Speak like you are at a Christian funeral and live like you are at a wedding feast with Jesus.

Community: Be self-controlled and sober-minded. Pray that God will give you the faith strength of obedience and endurance.

Service: Love your neighbor as yourself. Increase how deep and wide your 1 Corinthians 13 love goes.

Multiplication: Introduce people to Jesus. Share the Biblical truth in brotherly love with others.

ONE THING: Live in the spirit the way God does.

1 Peter 4:3-6 

CONTEXT: The time is now for holiness not “How about I do only what I want or think is best.”

How can we know our faith and deeds are Christlike?

   We don’t join or give in to sin no matter what others say.

What are a couple key aspects of a Christian who is living in the spirit the way God does?

   They share the good news of Jesus and respond to life biblically.

Based on this message what can you do bring God glory and make disciples?

Gospel- Centered = 

Worship: Leave it, don’t pick it up. Pray to God for the strength to leave what is against His will, well enough alone.

Community: Replace giving into peer pressure with pleasing God. No matter what they say it is God’s way all day!

Service: Prepare others for forever. Help others to be ready to stand before God.

Multiplication: Live the Gospel-Centered life. Bring God glory and make disciples where you work, worship, live and recharge.

ONE THING: Live in the spirit the way God does.

CONTEXT: Who you live for will determine the intensity of your suffering and joy.

What does it take to cease sinning?

   The heart, mind, soul and strength of Jesus Christ as modeled in the Bible and by maturing Christians.

Why are our human lusts an enemy to our soul?

   They seek to replace or be equal to God's perfect will for our lives.

Based on this message what can you do bring God glory and make disciples?

Gospel- Centered = 

Worship: Arm yourself with the mind of Christ. What does the Bible say Jesus would think, say and do then think, say and do that.

Community: Sin less and less. Rely on the power of God to overcome temptation so it doesn't turn into sin.

Service: Serve God first and foremost. Do His will not yours more and more.

Multiplication: String more and more faithful days together. If you miss a day start again.
