Joining us on episode five of Chapters Podcast, is the the super, incredible busking lady from Worcestershire, Lucy May Walker

Lucy May Walker is a Singer/Songwriter who started her career busking on the streets of London. She has just released her debut album ‘Nothing Ever Stays The Same’ featuring stand out tracks: The Hardest Goodbye, which reached No. 1 in the iTunes Singer/Songwriter chart, Full Of It, played on BBC 6Music by Tom Robinson and Safety Net which has over half a million streams.

Lucy May has supported the likes of Texas, Wet Wet Wet, Tony Hadley and Nerina Pallot  as well selling out numerous headline shows across the UK of her own. Alongside her music, Lucy also hosts a podcast called Music Industry Secrets... Spilled where she interviews industry professionals and shares tips on how to be successful in music.

Gonzo a Colombian born, South London raised artist. Mixing a blend of jazz, blues, soul, salsa and hiphop. Summin' different. On this episode we talk about her two mums, moving to England at the age of 3 and taking the opportunities presented to her to be able to chase her craft as a genreless musician.

Gonzo’s genre-fluid style is awe-inspiring. On her debut 5-track EP, The Naked Bandit, which she released in 2021, a combination of jazzy, eclectic sounds added to the overall meditative space she hypnotically pulls you into. Finding inspiration on her day-to-day travels (“usually on the bus or the train, or just when I’m headed somewhere”) she’s thoughtful with her pen, a dreamer, and it shines through in her musical output

Born and raised in South East London of Colombian & Irish heritage, D-Kel discovered his interest in music via Grime culture from his South London, council estate enviroment and the much more contrasting culture of Reggaeton music, he heard on trips to Colombia, his sound eventually became inspired by the likes of The Streets, The Specials, Dizzee Rascal, Roots Manuva, Rodney P, Tego Calderon & Calle 13. 

 In 2019, He founded his band ‘D-Kel & Los Bandidos’ a unique hybrid of Punk Rock, Reggae, Rap with the occasional touch of Spanglish lyrics combines perfectly to form an innovative sound. The 4 met through there passion of similar music and their willingness to start a band with a DIY mentality & Punk attitude.

 Tearing down formulas with their innovative audio storytelling, The band have a feeling of something classic  yet refreshing and original,  with a strong London-centric focus in their music as well as paying homage to D-Kel's Latin American roots.

 When D-Kel, is not performing with his band, he is curating his 'The Club of Vibes' show on community led radio 'Voices' started in in 2021, his goal being to showcase British Latino grassroots talent, to push UK Latin culture to the wider audience of London and beyond, Now in 2023, D-Kel looks to grow his platform to ensure more people are aware of the British Latin movement as well as releasing more music with his band.

Born and raised in and around Birmingham, vocalist and songwriter Utelka is emerging quickly onto the dance and music scenes.

Performing in an array of venues from Birmingham to New York, she has tailored her unique voice and style to steadily increase her fanbase.

Back in 2019, Utelka released her debut EP "Asphixiology" – through BLBX Records – which received great response from its first week, with tracks ‘Indigo’ and ‘Crazy’ gaining well deserved airplay on BBC Introducing. 
Since then, she has been developing her craft through writing for herself and other musicians across various genres. 

Last year saw Utelka step into different light , honing her skills on richer energy, capturing those raw emotions whilst embedding smooth wordplay and melodies. Tracks such as Drama At Your Place and Signs received huge amounts of support from Kiss Fm and BBC Radio 1.
 
2023 is set to be of the biggest years in Utelka’s career to date with many collaborative projects due for release and further growth to be shown. 

"Brayden is a Latin artist who made his official debut single "Como You" in March of 2018. 
Born Bryan Fabricio, on the 15th of February 1996 in Quito, Ecuador, he moved to the UK when he was just a baby. Growing up in Newham, East of London, inspired by his family's love for music and artistic trajectory, he learned how to produce and write songs at the age of 13. At this time his older brother "Cristian Abel" was performing for crowds internationally and had great success in the genre of traditional Ecuadorian music. 
 
 2014 was a difficult year for Brayden. Just months after his 18th birthday, the passing of his father "Hugo Rene Guachamin Shuguli" greatly impacted his motivation to make music. Granting his father's wishes; Brayden goes on to graduate from University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree at the end of 2017.

 In September 2020, Brayden releases "Imperfectus" the EP, showcasing his versatility in a compilation of 5 songs; establishing himself in the UK Latin scene as one of the most exciting up-and-coming talents.

Brayden's library of music has grown substantially in 2022. He has since worked with award-winning producer "Morfius" who has an impressive roster of clients such as "Wiley", "Chip", "Skepta", "D Double E", and "Future".

Bhxlu is an alternative R&B artist, with a cocktail of musical influences from old school American R&B, to a splash of Indian heritage. 

His sound leans towards darker and moodier aesthetics, often reflecting a period of life within toxic relationships. Saying that, his music definitely isn't 'one note'. 

In his own words, "I don't fit into a box. I just make music if i hear something I like".

Karim Djidel is a personal fitness coach, an all round sports fanatic and is the face for the F45 Gym on Blackhorse Road, London.
Growing up in Department 93 in France, we go on his journey of leaving France to move to London when he was 18 years old. Karim at the time spoke no English but worked his way to becoming a fitness coach with the aim of helping and making people better.
Karim runs his own business and works with different companies in the fitness industry. His aim is to continue to better himself and to contribute to making people enjoy their fitness journey.

Petra Eujane is a mother of two, and an incredible individual who has continuously reinvented herself throughout her lifetime and three careers - first working as a dental nurse, then a teacher, and now a photographer.

Petra's photography career initially began through her love for live music, and her passion and desire to capture something of the live music energy through a purely visual format.  Developing her use of photography by exploring new music in London's various gorgeous venues, she was also drawn to portraiture and location shoots. 

Her photography packages Include location shoots, portrait sessions, live music events, social and formal events, and school sports and event photography.

Petra is a member of the 'Photography Squad'. This is a group of photographers who work together to support businesses, individuals and charities to promote their brand, using photography and video.  They also deliver exciting and engaging workshops to nurture all levels of photographer. 

Songwriter Silas Armstrong began a solo career in 2020 releasing a series of powerful pop ballads mixing pain, life — and love. 
Silas calls his music “Soulful indie R&B, with a nod to the 80s.” Having previously performed at Glastonbury and toured with "Panic at the Disco!", the pandemic gave Silas the momentum and material to pursue his dream of a solo career. 
Now with 2 EP’s released independently, radio support from BBC Introducing and over 180k streams on Spotify, Silas is establishing himself as an emerging artist with lots of potential.

Born and raised in Paris, Léa was first introduced to music at a very young age through her grandfather, a great music enthusiast himself, who encouraged her to pursue a music education in a music school. There, she was first introduced to classical and jazz and played the piano for over 15 years. Her natural curiosity led her to expand her musical taste to a very eclectic range of genres over the years: from blues to traditional jazz from New Orleans and Arabic music.

At the age of 23, she moved to London to follow a career in
the music industry and cut her teeth for over 5 years at PIAS, one of the
leading independent labels. Four years later, she joined Islington Radio first
as host and producer of her debut radio show Let The Good Times Roll, radio programmer and now Operations Director
for Islington Media where she leads and supervises exciting creative
projects.
