The United Nation‘s latest international happiness ranking has Finland sitting in the top spot, and Canada in the 7th. The World Happiness Report, which was published today, ranked 156 countries by happiness levels, based on factors such as life expectancy, social support and corruption. The top 10 countries included: Finland, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Switzerland, Netherlands, Canada, New Zealand, Sweden and Australia.

It’s no secret that in big cities like Vancouver and Toronto, it’s hard for millennials to find affordable housing. But a new group, led by co-founder Kristina Smith, is proposing a unique solution to Vancouver’s housing crisis.

- The Manitoba School Board Association is looking at pushing for mandatory vaccinations. The motion said it’s to “protect the health of children in the community,” and looks to promote vaccinations for nine diseases: chicken pox, measles, mumps, diphtheria, tetanus, poliomyelitis, rubella, meningococcal disease and pertussis.

According to a new report from the CD Howe Institute, immigration is causing a challenge for Canada’s already aging population. The survey found “the number of people age 65 and over relative to the population of working age rose by more than 10% points over the past 40 years” and suggests later retirement might be a fix to this problem.

Stephen Hawking, whose brilliant mind ranged across time and space though his body was paralyzed by disease died last night. The best-known theoretical physicist of his time, Hawking wrote so lucidly of the mysteries of space, time and black holes that his book, A Brief History of Time, became an international bestseller, making him one of science’s biggest celebrities since Albert Einstein.
