Closer to home, the federal NDP slammed the Liberal government today, for breaking when they call a “sacred oath.” In the House of Commons, the NDP’s Nathan Cullen said Feb. 1 is probably a day the Liberals “are hoping Canadians forget all about.”

Yet another Canadian politician is being asked to step back from his duties, pending an investigation into his behaviour. Via an email to NDP MPs, Saskatchewan MP Erin Weir was accused of harassing women. But as Abigail Bimman reports, no victims have come forward and Weir says he’s not aware of the allegations.

The Justin Trudeau Town Hall in Edmonton is wrapping up at MacEwan University, where the travelling Prime Minister answered questions ranging from the opioid crisis, to veterans affairs, to first nations reconciliation, to yes the pipeline battle, and what it takes to get a pipeline passed in Canada

A new report released today by the Heart and Stroke Foundation shows a glaring hole in the medical field. According to the report, when it comes to women and heart disease, they are under-researched, under-diagnosed and under-treated – not to mention under-supported and under-aware – and it’s chalking up to be a very dangerous combination for the future of women’s heart health. Early heart attack signs were missed in 78% of women, the report states, with women now five more times likely to die of cardiovascular disease than breast cancer.

A Nova Scotia retiree, Lorne Grabher, was back in court today, fighting to regain a personalized license plate after it was deemed unacceptable by the province. The vulgar word on his license plate? GRABHER...which also happens to be his last name.

And a bizarre case from the University of Moncton, where a strange collection of Amazon items - ranging from adult novelty items, electronics and hygienic products - are arriving weekly, sometimes even daily at the university’s student federation office. The items have been paid for and have no information about where they came from.

And would you like a side of cancer warning with your next coffee? California coffee shops may soon be forced to warn customers about possible cancer risks linked to their morning cup of joe.

Saying “enough is enough,” Alberta Premier Rachel Notley says she is taking steps to put economic pressure on B-C to get it to stop hindering the progress of the Kinder Morgan pipeline expansion project. Notley says her government is suspending talks with British Columbia on the purchase of electricity - something she says will deprive B-C of half a billion dollars a year in sales. She told a news conference today, “We're prepared to do what it takes to get this pipeline built.”
