President Donald Trump has declared the opioid epidemic in America a public health emergency.

It was 50 years ago today that John McCain’s plane was shot down in Vietnam - he released this emotional video today on Twitter that goes over what he went through while he was in captivity.

A man accused of attacking a woman at her UBC dorm last year has been found not criminally responsible. Thamer Almestadi was facing several charges, including attempted murder and aggravated assault, in the October attack. The international student fron Saudi Arabia said he received a message from the Qur'an to kill then 19 year old student Mary Hare at a student dorm.

One place you won’t be seeing early Christmas decorations is Target! The American retail giant has waged war on what’s called “Christmas Creep” vowing to hold off on holiday promotions or decorations until after American Thanksgiving (November 23rd). While many are applauding this decision by Target, some (of course) are offended, saying the retail giant is “Canceling Christmas” or “Waging War on Christmas.”

The RCMP is bringing a second command centre in its investigation into a Salmon Arm BC property where investigators have discovered human remains. Mounties have been at the 24-acre property for nearly a week and at least five women have gone missing on the stretch of road near the farm in the last year and a half. Police haven't found a link between the missing women and the farm yet, but a 36-year-old man who lives on the property has been in police custody following alleged gun threats he made towards a sex-trade worker this summer.

 Last week, while responding to reporters digging into Morneau’s ethic concerns Morneau said “the process we have in our country isn’t that I report to journalists on my personal situation, it’s that I report to the ethics commissioner and I make sure that she fully understands my situation.”

Today he backtracked on that statement...somewhat.

Music legend Fats Domino has died at the age of 89. His spin on rhythm and blues in the 50s and 60s made rock and roll history.

Despite yesterday’s searing take-down from Arizona Senator Jeff Flake, President Donald Trump is insisting there is “great unity in the Republican Party.” But speaking to the media today, he continued to bash the Senator.

Meanwhile, Flake has not backed down from speaking out about the President, on the Today Show saying he believes Trump’s behaviour NEEDS to change.

Tomorrow, long-secret files are expected to be released on the Kennedy assassination. This goes back 25 years, to October 26 1992, when then president George HW Bush signed a law requiring all documents related to the assassination be released within in 25 years - unless the president says doing so would harm intelligence, law enforcement, military operations or foreign relations.

 President Donald Trump is now caught in a push-pull on this decision jammed between people who are curious about what happened, and agencies who are said to be counselling restraint.

 The saga of Steelers WR Steelers JuJu Smith-Schuster’s stolen bike has come to a conclusion. The Steelers rookie had his bike stolen on Tuesday - and because he doesn’t have a car, or a driver’s licence - he had been using the bike to get to and from practices, and around the city of Pittsburg.

Charity Tillemann-Dick, is an opera singer still performing after TWO double lung transplants. She debuted a new song yesterday that she wrote to pay tribute to the immigrant roots of her more recent donor...and she sang that song with her lung donor’s 24 year old daughter, Esperanza Tufani.
