A reflection of personal, and historic significance of what happened in Charlottesville, Va, this past weekend, and President Trump's response to it. 

A day after a carefully scripted news conference condemning white supremacists, U-S President Donald Trump is again blaming both sides for the violence in Charlottesville. By mid-September, the minimum wage in BC will increase by 50-cents to $11.35 an hour.  A commission will form to get BC to a 15-dollar minimum wage by 2021. Lots of Canadian cities are on the short list to be awarded games as part of the FIFA 2026 World Cup. 

Today it is was announced that Vancouver, along with several other Canadian cities, is potential city for FIFA 2026 games to be held.  Also, the BCHL is implementing standardized concussion testing.  

Metallica's road crew is being accused of pulling up stakes -- and leaving behind piles of garbage after last night's concert in Vancouver. In Charlottesville over the weekend there were Nazi and Confederate flags but also some flags sporting the Red Wings Logo.There's a brand new cheetos restaurant with a waiting list in New York City.

Several organizations, including The Community Based Research Centre for Gay Men’s Health (CRBC) are campaigning The NDP government to try and get PrEP covered.  This drug, initially intended as a treatment for HIV, also helps work as a preventative measure.  The problem is right now the cost is anywhere between $500-$1000 a month.
