Charles Manson: Manson's Last Stand

Listen Later

In this episode of Crime Time Inc., host Alex delves into the dramatic raid that led to the capture of Charles Manson and his followers at the Barker and Myers ranches in Death Valley on October 10, 1969. The coordinated effort by law enforcement, involving California Highway Patrol, National Park Service rangers, and Inyo County Sheriff's deputies, faced numerous challenges but ultimately succeeded in arresting ten women and discovering substantial evidence of the Manson Family's criminal activities. However, Manson himself was initially not captured. His mistaken belief in his invincibility led him to return to Barker Ranch, where he was eventually found hiding in a bathroom cabinet during a second raid. The narrative also touches on how confessions and testimonies from Family members, particularly Susan Atkins, as well as information from former associates like Kitty Lutesinger and Danny DeCarlo, pieced together the gruesome crimes of the Manson Family, including the infamous Tate-LaBianca murders. The episode concludes with reflections on the extensive investigation and the coordination required across multiple law enforcement agencies to finally unravel the true extent of the Manson Family's terror.
