Our generous acts as a memorial before God that causes him to remember us as He remembered Cornelius, a gentile Centurion. What generous acts can make God remember you?

Many times we use the excuse of meagre resources as a justification for not been generous. This excuse denies the fact that, whatever we have whether little or much comes from God and He expects us to be faithful with it. Jesus said that whosoever is faithful with little shall be faithful with much. God sent Elijah to a widow in Zeraphath who was about to eat her last meal. He did not send the prophet to those who had plenty. How can you honour God by being generous from your little today?

God's blessings are never direct but they are never missed by those who have trained their hearts to be generous. Lot did not allow two strangers to bypass his in Sodom. By opening his home for these strangers, he ended up saving his life and that of his family because the so seemingly strangers were Angels on a mission to save Sodom.

It is possible to do good and forget it. What we should however remember is that the good we do goes into an account with God that is never forgotten. The generosity we extend out there has a way of always coming back to us when we least expect. That is what happened to Tabitha a generous lady who touched many poor people and widows in Joppa. When she died, the lives she touched not only cried and prayed for her but also sent for Simon Peter who was used by God to restore her back to life. Whose life have you touched and they would pray for you when you get into problems? Your generosity will one day come knocking on your door and when you least expect it.

At a time when the considerations of many is what is in it for them, God exhorts believers to do good for the sake of doing good. Fellow humans may not appreciate the good you do but it never escapes God's attention. The Shunnamite Woman helped Elisha without expecting anything in return but her generous heart never escaped God's attention.

Generosity is a virtue that is encouraged in the word of God. It is the attribute of treating others with kindness and being generous and includes sharing our resources with them. We are living at a time when people have been taken advantage of and the virtue of generosity is slowly eroding. One cannot avoid feeling conned when they stretch forth their hand to support a given cause and some have been misused in trying to help others. What should be a believers response? Do not be overcome by evil but overcome evil with good.

Many times when we attempt to test God, we find ourselves getting tested instead. God relational desire with us is that we be able to trust him to act for our good in whatever circumstances we are in. We should trust him as a Shepherd. When Gideon decided to test God using a fleece, he was not prepared when the test rebounded back to him and he had to face an army of thousands with only 300 men. Jepththah an Israeli judge did also not expect that it is his daughter who will meet him when he came back with victory that he was not sure about. May our prayer always be, let you will be done on earth as it is in heaven!

Giving to God and for godly causes is a topic that has attracted mixed opinions over the years. Whereas there should be no debate as to whether we should support the activities of the local church or the Ministers of the gospel, giving to God should never be appear like we are trading with him. Tithes and offering were crucial in supporting godly work in the old testament and are still crucial today. The only difference is that believers in Christ are called to give from cheerful hearts. Whereas God will reward our faithfulness in giving, we should also recognise the many ways God has blessed us with blessings that money cannot buy rather than take offence when God does not come through for us as we anticipate.

Quite often, God will give his children accompanying signs demonstrating his presence together with them. That is what He did to Moses so that the Children of Israel as well as Pharaoh may know that Moses was sent by God and not acting on his own. The signs must however not be self serving or for self glorification but for God's honour. We must also not look for them because as Jesus said, signs and wonders follow those who believe.

There are instances in our lives where God's will may not be so explicit and we want to take a step. There is nothing wrong with asking God for as sign in such instances. The sign however should not be self serving but one that is meant to guide you in the best way you can bring God glory. It should also be certain even in such circumstances that whatever has happened was only possible through God.
