Ted Grambeau's logo was the first thing I noticed around the time of it's release...I remember not being familiar with him but admiring his logo and the fact the he branded himself...how clever I thought. From then on it was like when you buy a car you think no one else has...drive 100m down the road, you spot another one. Ted's logo would be everywhere for me. I soon became familiar with iconic images the Ted the artist produced...years later I would get to meet Ted the person.

In this interview I do my best to stick with a vastly more experienced artist then I, at times during the conversation I felt like Luke Skywalker learning from Yoda...a 6ft plus, deep voiced Jedi passing on principles and concepts to a trainee. You can't not respect the fact that Ted's actively been at the forefront of a mixed genre of surf, travel, fashion, adventure, portrait and documentary photography...genres that weren't a "thing" until his era. There's not much more to say but plug in and listen up, 40 years of knowledge is available direct to your ear buds.

"Who do you belong to mate?' I ask approaching the smiling little kid stood in front of me, "Is that your mum?" I say pointing to Katie. A brief introduction is made and I establish he's there by himself, under his own guise.

"Your how old!" I yell, "Mate I want some of your youthful genes...imagine how good you'll look when your old and salty like me!"

I was unaware of Brodie's health issues and that in fact he hadn't produced the hormone required for growth for the past few years...when I over heard his plight, about an hour later, I apologised profusely..."F off mate!" is what I would've replied with if I were him...Brodie smiled, looked me dead in the eye "It happens." I was humbled by a 17 year old.

Tom Woods and I met at an Aquatech event, I'd gone to support Sean Scott (not that he needs my support) but I'd met him through the Gold Coast Community and we'd talked about getting him on the show....something that hasn't happened as yet...anyway I was perusing the gear, talking shop to one of the staff and Tom approached me, " I know that voice...you've got that podcast right?" We got to talking and I quickly decided he'd be a great guest, something he was shy on. Over the next few months Tom and I have been in contact..I've been a closet fan of his Youtube videos and content he puts out.

We met up at his local coast, the Sunshine Coast, a trip I rarely take. "I've got a 92 year old, wheel chair bound, gambling addict Aunty that I need to take for her fix, before I see her let's shoot and record." I suggested.

In this episode Tom shares a mountain of knowledge, I talk a little too much but still manage to absorb many of his learnings.

Tommy's the real deal and a great example of how chasing clarity has fulfilled some of his dreams and afforded him a lifestyle many are envious of.

I've been apprehensive to release this, episode 20.

It's always daunting baring a little of your soul on a public forum, how much sharing of your personal life is too much and how much is actually related to the topic of the show, a feel good show about something we do...it's simple, we love the ocean and we enjoy being creative around it. One of topics of discussion is mental health, my anxiety, my partners bipolar and some of the challenges we've faced. I write this to inform you that we briefly touch on these, some deeper topics and offer fore warning.

We mostly keep it light, around ocean imagery, my previous guests and our surf photography journey. Travis also introduces a new segment to the show which I don't think I answered properly at the time of the interview.lol. As changes go, I think it'll be a regular spot.

It seems a little self indulgent not only releasing an episode about me, but releasing it on my own show....but.....

hopefully you find the conversation interesting, a little entertaining and ultimately helpful. Its hard to admit publicly the chinks in the armour I've spent a life time hardening.

"I'm the happiest I've ever been!" The Don says to me as we exit the water one afternoon. Once dry and walking to order our favourite Little Mali treat I turn and invite him back on the show to tell the world how he's progressing in his surf photography journey. In this episode I'm stoked to bring you a conversation with an artist that has progressed leaps and bounds since our last conversation nearly a year ago. It brings me joy to see the hard work and sacrifice we all go through as creatives be rewarded. Trav tells me about some of his gaols he's ticked off and some more that are on his hit list.
