This week Dave and Joe, Chasing Tomorrow podcast co-show hosts, have the pleasure of talking to Mike Wardian, ultra-running phenom.  He has many records including the record for the fastest finishes in all six World Marathon Majors (2:31). He has won the US 50 km championship and the JFK 50 miler. Wardian won the Quarantine Backyard Ultra, running nearly 263 miles over the course of 63 hours without sleeping and he holds the record for the fastest 50K treadmill run.  All while being an international ship-broker and a father of two.  Simply amazing!

This week on the Chasing Tomorrow podcast Joe goes solo as Dave is out doing some big miles as he preps for Big's Backyard.  Joe catches up with Kay Martin, founder, and CEO of Boco Gear, who is making custom state-of-the-art athletic gear for endurance geeks to outdoor freaks.  From her early days in the outdoor apparel industry, Kay has been making an impact on the gear that we all use.  As a women founder and leading a mostly female company, Kay continues to make her mark on not just performance gear but also on diversity, equity, and inclusion.  She is a role model for all of us.

This week Dave and Joe, Chasing Tomorrow podcast co-show hosts, have the pleasure of talking to Mary Ehlers.  Mary is 32 years old from St. Paul, MN. has two elementary age kids and works a full-time job. She claims to be just an average person with big dreams who loves to ride her bike love riding my bike. Just a few weeks ago she completed the 2021 version of the Tour Divide a 2,500-mile mountain bike race that goes from the Canadian border to the Mexico border. When she completed the race on July 7th, she became the 3rd woman to finish the 2021 race in just over 25 days.  An amazing accomplishment for sure!

This week Dave and Joe, Chasing Tomorrow podcast co-show hosts, have the pleasure of talking to Nathan Amery, adventurer, and outdoorsman.  Nathan has summited Mt. Kilimanjaro and many of the Colorado 14ers and recently completed a trip of Denali, North America's highest peak.  His trip was full of life experiences and Nathan recounts what it was like to spend over 20 days on the glacier and the headwalls of Denali.

This week Dave and Joe, Chasing Tomorrow podcast co-show hosts, have the pleasure of talking to Bob Hearn, repeat guest, and 2021 winner and course record holder for the Vol State ultra.  Bob set the record for both the crewed and screwed approaches and in so doing not only elevated his running game he stepped into the world of purpose, life mission and transcendence.  A fascinating conversation that goes way beyond running and makes us think deeply about why we are here and what we are learning along our journey.

This week Dave and Joe, Chasing Tomorrow podcast co-show hosts, have the pleasure of talking to Ailsa MacDonald the recent winner of the Sinister 7 100-mile ultra-race.  She won by nearly seven hours.  Ailsa is an established trail runner, ultra-runner, road runner, and triathlete. In 2017 she claimed the 50K and 100-mile Canadian National Champion title, in 2018 she won Ironman Canada and in 2019 she won the Pemberton 50K in Arizona overall and set the course record. MacDonald owns multiple course records and two overall wins at the ultrarunning distance.  She is a force to be reckoned with.

This week Dave and Joe, Chasing Tomorrow podcast co-show hosts, have the pleasure of talking to Jake Jackson. Jake is one of those serious elite ultra-runners who has many serious accomplishments and yet lives a semi-normal life as a dad, UPS driver, and all-around good guy. From running on the US 24-hour team to giving the 48-hour distance a go at the Dome this year, Jake has had all sorts of experiences that come from pushing his body to places that at one time we thought impossible.

This week Dave and Joe, Chasing Tomorrow podcast co-show hosts have the pleasure of talking to Chander Kant, a mindful and spiritual ultra-runner from New Dehli, India who came in fourth in the 2020 Quarantine Backyard Ultra completing 41 laps for a total of 165 miles.  He qualified for the 24-hour world championship and is in the process of organizing the Run Yogi backyard race.  Chander is the consummate positive-spirited person, and he is looking to bring India into the ultra-community in the coming years.

This week Dave and Joe, Chasing Tomorrow podcast co-show hosts have the pleasure of talking to John Stocker the newest world record holder in the Backyard race format.  John beat Matt Blackburn, "the assist", completing 81 hours straight, 337 miles at the Suffolk Backyard Ultra.  John is emerging as the runner to beat later this year in Big's Backyard and feels that 100 hours is indeed achievable.  John is the perfect example of going from ordinary to extraordinary.
