Waiting for Christ's return is not an excuse for being idle. Our work life gains meaning and importance if placed in the context of God's renewal of creation through Christ. However, we are not to work in the way the world tells us to. We are to work with our hearts resting on God's love and Christ's endurance.

We must stand firm and hold on to the truth of the gospel until Jesus returns and prevails against all falsehood.

When Jesus returns, he will bring judgment for unbelievers and vindication for believers. How do we make sense of God's wrath? Here are five lenses through which we can consider the idea of divine judgment.

What does intentional Christian community look like in light of Christ's return? We are given a list of instructions which only make sense if we also believe the gospel and have experienced God's grace. In the second sermon on the passage we look at the church's spiritual posture of joy, prayer, and gratitude, as well as consider how we are to relate to the Holy Spirit. We end, as we did last week, on the vision of becoming complete in Christ at his return.

The teaching on the Lord's return is meant to encourage us that we are safe in Christ, dead or alive, and to live intentionally in anticipation of his coming.

Sanctification is not an option. The Spirit continues to produce practical holiness in the life of the believer. Christians are to pursue sanctified sexuality by prioritizing love over lust. We can only do that by understanding and experiencing God's love in Christ.

God uses relationships to sanctify us and transform us into our future glory-selves. It is a glorious purpose. However, relationships are hard because we are all at various stages of transformation. We need God's power, available to us through the gospel of Jesus.
