Chauncey's Great Outdoors

On this week’s Chauncey's Great Outdoors show, we are at the Red Crest Tournament, which is the Championship Tournament for MLF being held in Birmingham Alabama on Lay Lake, with a huge outdoor expo being held at the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Center today and tomorrow. But on today’s show we have Kathy Fennel Ex VP and General Mgr. of MLF who will talk about the evolution of MLF and this great tournament itself. We will also have on Kevin Van Dam the greatest bass angler that has ever picked up a fishing rod and reel in the 36 years he has been in competitive bass fishing and is fishing his last tournament this weekend. He will, I hope, talk to us about what’s on page two of this truly remarkable career and more importantly the friendship we have forged together over 23 years. On this week’s Chauncey's Great Outdoors show, we have Dave McCoy who is an angler in a very interesting tournament that’s called Head 2 Head where you compete against 9 other teams over numerous lakes and the tv / internet video coverage is great. Then the latest Elite angler at only 19 from Carbondale Illinois won his first Elite tournament and his name young anglers will be yell I want to be like Trey McKinney!!. We did our first interview when he was in high school, I’m very proud of him and you will be also.

On this week’s Chauncey's Great Outdoors, we have Tim Mondl from the Forest Preserve District of Cook County to talk about all the programs for March going on for kids from 5 to 105 years young!!. So come out to a few of these, I’m sure you'll like it. Then Matt Stephan , an excellent bass angler who grew up on the northside of Chicago by Super Dawg, will be fishing his first Red Crest Tournament from the Major League Fishing League. I'm looking forward to pick his brain about fishing.

On this week’s Chauncey's Great Outdoors show, we have Bob Jones who I met at the All Canada Show who with the support of his wife he did something we all dream about, but would never jump off the cliff to do. He purchased a Canadian Lodge called Stormer Lake Lodge and is living out his dream to leave the big city and move to northern Ontario and make other peoples dreams come true on their trip to Canada just like he did many years ago. Then Dalton Head ,a college angler who qualified for the Red Crest Tournament which is the championship for the Major League Fishing organization next month, well talk about what he did to qualify and how much internal pressure and external pressure he has to deal with on top of fishing against the greatest names in fishing he grew up with.

On this week’s Chauncey's Great Outdoors 2-17-2024 we are at the Tinley Park Fishing Travel and Outdoor Expo, and I hope you come out with the kids and your fishing buddies and have some fun with us. But on today's show we have Matt Gunkel from So Ill Sportfishing, he is a guide in southern Illinois who grew up in the Chicago suburbs and after graduating he wanted to get more people on big fish in the Carbondale area and has been doing a great job doing it. So come and see him at the show. Then Wayne Libera from Water Werks Marine will be at the show with over 11 boats of all kinds and sizes for you and the family, to go get out on the water with. On this week’s Chauncey's Great Outdoors, we will have Bob Haack from southern Illinois who harvested his deer in the first gun season of Illinois. But what he did after that is the story from tracking the deer, following the trail, to finding it went into the a pond, but as a true sportsman he did not stop until they got the deer out of the water and his brother said oh my look what we have here. It’s a great story about deer hunting and never giving up. Then Steve Ettenger the Executive Director of the Illinois Conservation Foundation will tell us about their big Annual Gala Dinner with auctions and Hall of Fame induction in Glenn Ellyn Illinois on February 22 . We will then have more outdoor information and Aiden’s fishing report in the final segment of the show.

On this week’s show we will have Oliver Ngy a professional bass angler who will be doing seminars at the Chicagoland Fishing Travel and Outdoor show in Schaumburg and Tod Alberto the show producer for the show in Schaumburg, who has a whole boat load on information of what’s going on at the show, and you never know who is going to call in.
