In our sixth episode we had the pleasure of talking with Amy Castro and Stacia West. They are activists and leading researchers on basic income in the world and abroad. They are heads of CGRI - Centre for Guaranteed Income Research,  an applied research center specializing in cash-transfer research, evaluation, pilot design, and narrative change. We provide mixed-methods expertise in designing and executing empirical guaranteed income studies that work alongside the existing safety net. CGRI has been studying several guaranteed income experiments across the US, including the well-known SEED experiment. In our fourth episode, and in the aftermath of the recent 2024 European Elections, we talked with Francisco Guerreiro, an independent MEP from Portugal in the
Group of the Greens/European Free Alliance in the European Parliament.
Francisco Guerreiro is well-known for being one of the most active members of the European Parliament, fighting for policies addressing the current ecological crisis.
He is also a prominent advocate for the idea of an Unconditional Basic Income, both in Portugal and in the EU, and has even released a documentary series on the topic that is available free: https://rbidoc.com/en/. 

In our third episode of the #checkoutbasicincome UBI4ALL episode, we had the pleasure of talking with Ruby and Lily from GAYO - Green Agriculture Youth Organization, an organization committed to supporting African youth, particularly in Zambia, while also ensuring a sustainable development. Their take on UBI was super interesting, and shows how basic income can be a powerful tool to address both the global issues we all face, but also the specific challenges that make life difficult in several parts of the globe.

As a young agronomist, my aspirations are boundless. I envision a future where sustainable agriculture is the driver for economic growth, where farmers, youth women and children are equipped with knowledge and tools to adapt to changing climates. 

In our first Check Out Basic Income Podcast episode, we had the immense pleasure of interviewing   Rebecka Le Moine. As a member of the Swedish Parliament, she has been working to discuss and implement a basic income in Sweden. In the episode, we get to learn more about Rebecka, but also about challenges that a UBI could help solve, even in a country with a strong welfare state, like Sweden. 

About our interviewee: Rebecka Le Moine is a member of the Green Party in the Swedish Parliament, and spokesperson for Biodiversity. With a Master’s degree in conservation biology and a background as a biology consultant, her biggest concern is to find political solutions to tackle the mass extinction of our fellow species. Therefore, she is working to change our basic values and find new solutions for today's problems. One solution she believes in in order to stop the exploitation of both human and nature, is basic income. 

 In this second episode of our #checkoutbasicincome podcast we had the enormous pleasure of interviewing Sarath Davala - President of the Basic Income Earth Network (BIEN), the main organization spearheading the activism in favor of UBI across the world.

 In this episode Sarath tells us about the history and mandate of BIEN, but also about Sarath's work with UBI, namely his experience with basic income experiments, while also telling us about his UBI utopia.

Biographical note: Sarath Davala is an independent sociologist based in Hyderabad, India, and is currently the President of the Basic Income Earth Network, a global organisation working in 45 countries. After a stint as a professor at IIM Bangalore, he switched to the voluntary sector and worked closely with several NGOs and trade unions in India and abroad. He has worked closely with the Self Employed Women's Association (SEWA), and was the Research Director of the Madhya Pradesh Basic Income Pilot Study that was conducted between 2011 and 2013 in India by SEWA. He is the co-author of the book: "Basic Income: A Transformative Policy for India". He is currently co-directing another basic income pilot project with waste collectors in Hyderabad.
