God has established truth and love together. They don’t exist apart. God has established a standard, and He does not shift. The standard is established in truth and in love. Love and truth exist in perfect harmony together. As Christians, we have to live our lives differently. Our willingness and discipline to operate within truth and love matters. Truth is who Christ is, and He does not change. God is love, and God does not change. God’s standard is that He has set it in truth and love, and we ought to live, speak, and operate within it. Listen to this sermon about bringing truth and love together in the final part of our Truth series.

According to the Scripture, it is deep within your soul to wrestle with what is right and wrong because that is how God created you. Satan simply wants to reprogram the way God has made us. He wants God’s creation to rebel against Him instead of surrendering to Him. That’s the enemy’s plan. That’s the enemy’s attack on Truth. The attack on Truth all began in the Garden of Eden when Satan came as a serpent to Eve and began to question the Truth. The Truth has been established to protect the heart and soul of God’s creation. What the enemy means for evil, God uses for good. Listen to this sermon about the attack on truth in the third part of our Truth series.

When Adam and Eve were created, they were given God’s truth and given the standard of how to live. Because of man’s pride, they chose to step outside of God’s standard. Complete chaos ensued. The perfect relationship between God and man was severed, but God provided a way for reconciliation. God established the truth and the standard not to control us but because He loves us. He established the Word as truth. There is a God who loves you, and He wants you to operate inside of His truth and standard out of love. Listen to this sermon about defining what truth is in the second part of our Truth series.

The Word of God will stand forever, and our number one core value at CMC is biblical teaching. Why do we value biblical teaching? Because we believe (1) the Bible is God’s Word, (2) God’s Word is Truth, and (3) God’s Word is alive. Listen to this sermon about how we know that the Bible is God’s Word, the Bible is Truth, and God’s Word is alive.

Our mission is to saturate the world with the Good News by making disciples. How we accomplish this mission is our strategy: belong, become, and build. The wider we go, the more people we can reach with the gospel. This is why we go out and build the Kingdom of God. We must make God’s priorities our priorities, and Jesus’ last words on earth were a command to the disciples to go; this includes us. Listen to this sermon about building the kingdom of God and the reasons why we keep ourselves from sharing our faith in the final part of our Belong, Become, Build series.

After you belong to God, it is our desire that every child of God becomes a mature disciple of Christ. No matter where you are in your journey, we are all a part of the process and in the journey together in our faith to become a mature disciple. Even with Jesus’ own disciples during His earthly ministry, every disciple’s journey begins with an invitation from Jesus. Once you accept the invitation to follow Him, then you begin learning from other followers of Christ, and, then, you are commanded to also teach others to help others in the discipleship journey. Listen to this sermon about becoming a mature disciple of Christ in the second part of our Belong, Become, Build series.

We all have a desire to belong. Since the beginning with Adam and Eve, they even had a desire to belong to God. God designed us to desire to belong. God created us with a God-sized hole in our hearts knowing that only He could fill it. Because of our sin, there is no way we could cover ourselves, so He began His rescue mission through His Son Jesus. God desires for us to belong to Him and to the family of God. This is why belonging is part of the heartbeat of our church. What does this look like to belong to Him and to belong to the Church? Listen to this sermon about belonging in the first part of our Belong, Become, Build series.

If Nehemiah had ended in chapter 12, it would have been like a fairytale ending. However, some time has passed between chapters 12 and 13. By chapter 13, Nehemiah has returned to his former cupbearer job and has requested leave from the king to return to Jerusalem. Upon returning, he finds the people and Jerusalem have turned from God and turned from what had been rebuilt. The people have even housed Tobiah, the one who in Nehemiah 2, was described as one who opposed the work of God, in the temple of the Lord. This has hindered the work of God. Similarly, just as the people had housed a hindrance in the temple of the Lord, as followers of Christ, we are now each the temple of the Lord because the presence of God resides in us. What is our Tobiah? What is the sin that is in our life that hinders us from accomplishing the work of God? Listen to this sermon in Nehemiah about sin hindering the work of God and the final account of Nehemiah in the twelfth and final part of our Rebuild series walking through the book of Nehemiah.

Life is full of responses. In Nehemiah 10-12, we are going to see a response to God’s love, the placement of God’s people, and the impact of God’s work through His people. In view of the children of Israel realizing their wickedness and seeing God’s faithfulness and love despite their failures, they take an oath and make a commitment to follow God. Listen to this sermon in Nehemiah about what we can learn from the children of Israel’s response to God’s love, the placement of God’s people, and the impact of His work through His people in the eleventh part of our Rebuild series walking through the book of Nehemiah.

In Nehemiah 9, the children of Israel are preparing and gathering together for The Feast of the Booths to celebrate what God has done in the past and look forward to what God is going to do in the future. During this, they read the Word, confessed their sin, and they worshiped. Seeing what they did during this week, we see that reading the Word produces the conviction, the conviction produces confession, the confession leads to humility, and humility produces praise. Listen to this sermon in Nehemiah about it not being about God’s faithfulness trumping our failures in the tenth part of our Rebuild series walking through the book of Nehemiah.
