Brutes Squad won a week. Sorry Z, tough loss. Week 3 was a challenging week and lots of drama. We discussed the close matchups, surprises and even how Aleks hates our injury slots (only 3?!?!). Well, at least there are 2 undefeated teams left as we look ahead to week 4.
Week 2 came and went fairly quickly and boy have things changed. Brutes are terrible, Evermore is good? Down is Up, I guess? We discuss Week 2 and somehow forgot that we are terrible at picking teams each week, and Aleks may be the worst at it. We look ahead to Week 3 matchups and end discussing Aleks' new chicken feeder that hopefully will avoid feeding the rats in his backyard. Typical stuff.
Week 1 is finally in the books and we recap the blown leads that left us in disarray. We look ahead to Week 2 and prognosticate our first regular week of 2025. Aleks tackles the lore of the Brutes Squad bee journey and we close with some trivia on Pitching Stuff+ & Batting Exit Velocity leaders of 2025.
Baseball is officially back and so is the Chicago Beef League. With an extended Week 1, we review current matchups and primarily criticize the Brute squad. We then jump right into MLB predictions by division where Mike and Aleks make the most boring takes. At least Chip offered some spicy ones. We proceed into Mike and Chip's Power rankings of the Beef teams. As expected, Vishnu's team now has company in bottom tier with Jay and Zavo. We shall see how it all shakes out!
For those that don't know, the Chicago Beef League draft is the greatest day of the year. And its largely spent online for 2 hours, usually during Zavo's mom's birthday. Anywho, the draft happened this past Sunday and we recapped it in detail. Aleks even did prep work! We recap each teams draft, the positives and negatives, and close with Aleks' outlook for 2025. Give it a spin!
We chatted for well over an hour discussing and predicting what will happen (and not happen) in the first 2 rounds of our upcoming Chicago Beef League draft. We picked players based on positional needs as well as draft history. This wasn't a draft of what WILL happen, as we all know guys will go WILD CARD and pick a random player in that 1st round that will throw everyone off. We did our best. Enjoy
Well, we did it. We finally wrapped the positional series with the pitchers segment. We touch on the state of the positions, how many will be kept and which are tough choices for teams. For relievers, we specifically note some draft tactics and look outs, like (not surprisingly) Chip's terrible memory of when he drafted them in years past. With the final cuts deadline next Sunday, draft is coming up quickly.
We finally get to the big guys. The mashers, the ones who can't run much, who get platooned with another bum who can't hit lefties. Its a rough positional set where most players are kept every year. We wrap the discussion with a brief review of some of CBS' 2025 projections and notably their outliers. There are a bunch of terrible ones, be careful!
We continue this year's positional series with the OF position. OF is enormous and we comb* thru the tiers like the finest brush you got. Buckle up, we got feisty.
* Apologies, we recorded this 3 weeks ago and forgot to upload.
We continue this year's positional series with the Middle Infield positions: 2B and SS. In previous years, they were of massive importance to your annual fantasy baseball success. In 2025? Maybe not, as we discussed. We close by weaving in "fond" recollections like the 2021 White Sox, which were ruined by Tony La BOOM BOOM and initiated the downfall of the franchise...but 2B/SS was a fun topic today!
