We caught Robert while he was grounded in Switzerland between legs of his current journey. Show topics include: previous circumnavigation experiences, international bureaucracy, engine and technical failures, preparing for big journeys, chasing dreams, and so much more. This insightful episode will be entertaining for pilots and non-pilots alike. Listen in as DJ and Robert discuss life, pandemics, motivations and offer insights into the mind of a pilot.

In this episode I spoke about the importance of doing our own research about the topics that we care about and why we should test the veracity of what media outlets and politicians tell us.I also talked about why I think Trump will be re-elected in a landslide and why the Democrats will most likely lose the House. Lastly, I opined about the lack of civility in political debate and the dangers of being ideologically rigid.

I let loose on what I perceive is the current state of affairs in this country and how, in my opinion we got here. I share an epiphany that I had the other day about how the media uses headlines designed to elicit emotional responses to get us to support their agendas rather than reporting the facts and letting US decide what we believe. In the not too distant past we trusted our news gathering organizations and newscasters. We relied on their investigative search for the TRUTH to present fact based reporting so that we could make intelligent decisions about important issues that affect us. We took for granted that they performed a diligent search for truth supported by the facts in their reporting and so when Newscasters like Walter Cronkite said something on the evening news we believed it to be truthful because we trusted their news gathering skills. In today's media landscape that is all but gone. The media is mistrusted because of the accusations of "Fake News", highly edited video, comments taken out of context all in the name of getting that "gotcha" moment. I share my own personal insights about how I am trying to navigate these challenges and the importance of constantly seeking fact based truth and understanding.Support the show

On this episode we had the pleasure of welcoming Jeff Bonano of the 'Do Something Nice' podcast to discuss his journey of spreading positivity and compassion throughout his world. We discuss Jeff's journey and the events that caused him to live a life of vigilante kindness. In this episode we talk about how people behave when traveling in an airplane. We have all experienced the craziness of air travel and sometimes have lost our patience, but what about the people that just go cray, cray? Also, what possesses people to do the things that they sometimes do when flying, like putting their bare feet in between the seats or letting their long hair hang behind their seat and in front of the person sitting behind them or having sex, masturbating or worse! I have added some sound clips in this show of people having meltdowns and it is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg of what people do. So take a min and listen and enjoy and hope that you never have to sit next to or near one of these types of passengers!

More About Kim
In addition to what is listed above, Kim has had a decorated and busy career spanning urban planning, transportation, and social work/justice. Kim currently holds too many positions to count. DJ tried to list everything at the beginning of the show and ran out of room on his note card! That is to say, Kim is exceedingly committed to the projects that she is involved in and always seems to have a little bit more to offer when needed.
Kim started her career in the Urban planning working with the Chicago Transit Authority eventually leading her to pursue a second Master’s degree. This moved led her to start a management consulting firm called Affinity. This organization sought to bring visibility to LGBTQ+ people of color in the South Side of Chicago. You can read more on their website about the numerous accomplishments and progress that this organization has made in for this cause.
Kim was inducted into the Chicago LGBT Hall of Fame in 2016 for her work and still maintains her spot as the Executive Director of Pride Action Tank, leads the Outspoken Storytelling series, and serves on countless committees and boards both locally and nationwide. Kim’s efforts largely focus around and advocates for the development of LGBT youth Homelessness programs and services.
