We close out “Authors You Should Know” month with S.L. Prater’s Robin Hood #steamysteampunk reimagining, “Of Heists and Hexes.” On opposite sides of the law, Sheriff Noah Nottingham fights his attraction to the beautiful witch thief Robin Hood, but soon finds he’d rather be binding her up for something more than law enforced penalization (giggity). The ladies are a day late with this one, but it’s worth it. This week, the ladies discuss the basis for season 2 of the exceedingly popular Netflix series Bridgerton – The Viscount Who Loved Me by Julia Quinn. In this book, we follow 29-year-old Anthony Bridgerton on his quest to find a wife. Anthony’s duties as the viscount essentially require him to marry and produce an heir, which he’s willing to do. What he’s *not* willing to do is marry a woman who could ever fall in love with. Anthony sets his sights on the diamond of the season – 17yo Edwina Sheffield. (Yes, we know it’s gross.) However, Anthony didn’t anticipate Edwina’s 20-year-old sister Kate being such a problem. Not only is Kate vehemently opposed to a potential marriage between Anthony and Edwina, but… Anthony is entranced by her – and that simply cannot do. Also discussed: belated Christmas presents, the new Pixar film Turning Red, and Vanessa Carlton.

Rae and Veronica are starting Black History Month with award-winning author Rebekah Weatherspoon and the second book in her Cowboys of California series, If the Boot Fits. This Cinderella-inspired tale follows Amanda McQueen (personal assistant to an evil actress) and Sam Pleasant (recent Oscar winning actor). When a chance encounter at an after-Oscars party leads them to a steamy night, Amanda disappears into the sunrise… with Sam’s Oscar statue. Weatherspoon manages to incorporate heavy topics, but still makes us laugh real hard. The ladies discuss white savior syndrome, doing our own anti-racism work, and while still managing to act like horny teenagers.
