Talk 129 - Verse 461-464

This talk continues asserting the reasoning and the teaching of the scriptural declaration that that the Atma has no Prarabdha. Through these verses, the conclusion that there is no prarabdha working in the case of the saint since he has no contact with his body, mind and intellect is from the Absolute standpoint is asserted. Shankaracharya ji explains that even the Upanishads compromise the concept of prarabdha for the man of perfection by indicating it’s a concept only for the deluded Jiva who perceives plurality.

Talk 127 - Verse 446 - 453

This talk expounds on the 3 types of karmas and what happens to the karma of that Jivan Mukta. The verses say that even a saint’s body has prarabdha karma and the difference is that we feel we are going through it but the Jivan Mukta abiding in Brahman is detached from it.

Talk 126 - Verse 442 - 445

These verses clarify how a Jivan Mukta lives after the state of realization. Through analogies, Shankaracharya ji says, that one who has experienced the Brahmanic bliss lives an introverted, detached life and is even unaffected by the force of past vasanas to pull him into the sensory cravings of the world. The sadhak is advised to live in alertness and to intensify the mumukshutvam, turn within and contemplate steadily on the Self.

Talk 128 - Verse 454-460

These verses explain prarabdha karma from the saint’s standpoint as non- existent because the identification of the saint is not with the individual. The analogy of the saint having attained vairagya stithi, being like waker who has full awareness of the dream state. Further verses indicate the Jivanmukta not having a sense of I, my and this. Verse 460 explains logically why the Jivan Mukta has no karma.

Pramathaadhipaha means the Lord of the Pramathaganas, who destroy the evil forces.

Mathana also means churning or destruction. The attendants or Lord Shiva destroy the atheistic thinking and protect the devotees and so they are called Pramatha.

These verses indicate the realized master as one who recognizes the play of One Consciousness. The seeker is urged to adopt the attitude of self-observation, equanimity, and the relationship that the Jivan mukta has with the objective world.

Lord Mrityunjaya has a specific form and there is a deeper symbolism of the form. Whole form signifies the spiritual process of sadhana - Karmayoga, upasana & nididhyasana. The 3rd eye is awakened through the process of sadhana. That Is state of Mrityunjaya.

Mrutyunjayaha - One who has won over death. One who protects the devotees from death. यस्मिन युक्ता ऋषयो देवताश्च तमेव ज्ञात्वा मृत्युपाशान्छिनत्ति yasmim yuktā ṛṣayō dēvatāṡca tamēva jñātvā mṛtyupāṡānchinatti In whom the devas and rishis are always connected and by understanding him one cuts all the bonds of death.

The Lord protects us from diseases, accidents etc. and also protects us from akaalamrutyu (untimely death)

The Lord also teaches us the wisdom of the Self and makes us realize that we are not body, mind or senses.

The story of the devotee Markandeya is an example of the Lord’s Grace and an ability to hold on to an ideal uncompromisingly.

This Mantra appearing in Rigveda, 7.59.12 and Yajurveda 3.60 is known as महामृत्युञ्जयमन्त्र-mahāmṛtyuñjayamantra. Vaishtha Maitravaruni is the Rishi of this Mantra in which Rudra is invoked as the deity.

Talk 124 - Verse 435-437

Through these shlokas, the experience that the realized person is constantly engaged in, in enjoying the bliss of Brahman is described. The quality of this realized person, having no boundary of inside and outside, is from the standpoint of the body. Verse 437 brings out the quality of non-doer ship of the realized person.
