CHP Canada Staff join us on CHP TALKS to review events of 2020 and to extend Christmas greetngs to all our members, friends and supporters. Dr. Ann Gillies speaks with Rod Taylor and Peter Vogel about the dangerous myths surrounding sexual identity and gender expression, and the counselling of those who are seeking to reduce in themselves the actions and feelings of unwanted same-sex attraction. With 25 years of counselling experience, Dr. Gillies brings a fresh professional perspective to this emotionally-charged topic. On Bill C-6, now before Parliament, Dr. Gillies sees enormous dangers of it criminalizing normal parental care and concern and making it impossible for those caught in a lifestyle they no longer are comfortable in, to seek and find the help they need. CHP TALKS: Mark Donnelly Sings ‘O Canada’ at BC Freedom Rally

Mark Donnelly is well-known and much appreciated for using his great voice to lead the singing of ‘O Canada’ at the opening of hockey games for the Vancouver Canucks from 2001 until a few days ago. On Dec. 4, 2020, he was severed from his role by team owner, Francesco Aquilini who announced it on his Twitter feed. The reason for his sudden dismissal was his announced intention to sing the national anthem at the BC Freedom Christmas Rally held in front of the Vancouver Art Gallery on Dec. 5. At the Rally, Mark not only sang the anthem, but gave a moving speech on the importance of defending our freedoms. Later in the program, he also sang a powerful rendition of ‘O Holy Night’. This week he spoke with CHP TALKS co-hosts, Rod Taylor and Peter Vogel in a wide-ranging conversation about his family, his music, his composing and his convictions.  Tanya Gaw and her organization, Action4Canada, are hard at work educating Canadians on the danger of allowing provincial politicians and public health officers to restrict freedom of speech, freedom of worship, freedom of assembly and freedom of conscience. She speaks with Rod Taylor and Peter Vogel on the need for Christians to protect and defend our God-given rights against the intrusions of the state that violate our Charter Rights and Freedoms.

Angelina Ireland speaks with Rod Taylor and Peter Vogel about the battle to preserve life and the high standards of palliative care in BC. Angelina is the President of the Delta Hospice Society, which operates the Irene Thomas Hospice in Delta. They have come under attack by the BC Government which has used high-pressure bullying tactics to attempt to coerce them to provide MAiD (Assisted Suicide) to their residents, against the principles of the founders and of current society members. A recent Court of Appeals ruling added pressure to the society to accept new members who want to impose a protocol that includes MAiD. 

Chris Cowie is Chair of the Waterloo Regional Crime Prevention Council. He is a past President of the Ontario Association of Community Correctional Residences. He has worked with young offenders and has collaborated with the Community Justice Initiatives organization. He spoke with Rod Taylor and Peter Vogel on the topic of Restorative Justice.

 Dr. Irving Hexham is a Full Professor of Religious Studies at the University of Calgary. He spoke with Rod Taylor and Peter Vogel on the impact of Christianity on Western culture, highlighting his research into the “embedding” of Christianity into Germany’s politics and government institutions following WW II. Joe Boonstra, longtime CHP member and a survivor of the Nazi occupation of Holland, speaks with Rod Taylor about his remembrances of the occupation, about the risks his family took in protecting Jewish people in their home, the liberation of his village by Canadian soldiers and the importance of defending freedom today.

RCAF veteran Jack Dekok speaks with Rod Taylor and Peter Vogel about the liberation of his town in Holland by Canadian soldiers and his subsequent immigration to Canada and service in the Royal Canadian Air force. Jack and his wife, Mary, have been married for 55 years.

Judi Johnston Vankevich, well-known as the Manners Lady and as a gifted entertainer, speaks with Rod Taylor and Peter Vogel on the importance of manners in politics and in Canada’s cultural heritage. She emphasizes the need to inspire and encourage young people to get involved in politics at all levels and to bring godly principles to bear in every sphere.
