Jesus assures the disciples of joy, even as they are sad at his leaving.  He gives us joy if we let him fill us with his spirit. 

Jesus wants us to know we are not alone in our journey, as he has left the Spirit to guide us. 

While Jesus promises never to leave us alone, he gives his Spirit to help us face the hardest of times.

We have learned about abiding in Christ.  What does the fruit we bear really look like though?

Jesus warns his followers some will hate his message. 

Jesus calls us to be friends with him.  Yes, the Son of God wants us to be his friend.

Jesus gives the command and explanation of Love to the disciples only hours before showing that love on the cross. 

We are called to remain in Christ.  He is our lifeline and we must connect to him continually.

Luke 24.  Jesus must open the eyes of the followers to re-engage them in living and getting back to the mission he called them to. 

All too often people try to build themselves up, by using gifts God has given.  Others try to hold their gifts over others, as if they are better in some way than others.  God gives gifts from his Holy Spirit, but all have been gifted, and we can see why in today's study.
