In the midst of these evil days, Paul says we should be diligent and take the time to look at our lives and ask ourselves if we're living wisely or unwisely.  And, of course, he says that is determined by whether we're under the influence of the of the Word of God and the Holy Spirit or not.

Paul calls us, as beloved children of God, to love and give of ourselves to the point of sacrifice for the benefit of others and to reject sexual sin which is the epitome of taking for ourselves to the point of self-indulgence at the expense of others.
