For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth and the sea and all that is in them, but on the seventh day He rested. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and set it apart as holy. — Exodus 20:11

The Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them. The heavens declare the glory of God. By the word of the Lord the heavens were made. The nations are like a drop in the bucket before Him. By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God.

In bringing many sons to glory, it was fitting for God, for whom and through whom all things exist, to make the author of their salvation perfect through suffering. — Hebrews 2:10

The Captain of our salvation was made perfect through sufferings. That doesn't mean He was imperfect before — it means His work was completed through the path of pain. In Gethsemane He was sorrowful to the point of death. His sweat became like great drops of blood. The pains of death surrounded Him.

The Spirit gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life. — John 6:63

Jesus said His words are spirit and life. The Spirit gives life; the letter kills. Through the word of truth, we're brought forth as new creations. Christ cleanses the church by the washing of water with the word. The psalmist knew this — he hid God's word in his heart that he might not sin.

not stealing from them, but showing all good faith, so that in every respect they will adorn the teaching about God our Savior. — Titus 2:10

Paul tells believers to adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in all things. Your life either decorates the Gospel or distracts from it. Only let your conduct be worthy of the Gospel. Abstain from every form of evil. Shine as lights in the world so people see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

O my God, my soul despairs within me. Therefore I remember You from the land of Jordan and the peaks of Hermon—even from Mount Mizar. — Psalm 42:6

The psalmist cries out,'O my God, my soul is cast down within me', and that's honest. But he doesn't stay there. He commands his soul to hope in God. You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You. Cast your burden on the Lord and He will sustain you.

For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, — 1 Timothy 2:5

There's one God and one mediator between God and men — the man Christ Jesus. That's the exclusive claim of the Gospel. Since the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise partook of the same. God reconciled us to Himself through Christ. He's our peace, breaking down the dividing wall.

and we will receive from Him whatever we ask, because we keep His commandments and do what is pleasing in His sight. — 1 John 3:22

We want to do what's pleasing in His sight, and that starts with faith — without faith it's impossible to please Him. Those in the flesh can't please God. The Lord takes pleasure in His people. A gentle and quiet spirit is precious to Him. He who offers thanksgiving honors God.

may the LORD cause His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; — Numbers 6:25-26

God's face shining upon you — that's the heart of the priestly blessing. We see that glory in the face of Jesus Christ. No one has seen God at any time; the only begotten Son has made Him known. He's the radiance of His glory and the exact imprint of His nature. When God lifts up His countenance, He gives peace.

Jesus wept. — John 11:35

The shortest verse in the Bible holds an ocean of meaning —'Jesus wept'. He was a man of sorrows, acquainted with grief. He sympathizes with our weaknesses, having been tempted in every way as we are, yet without sin. It was fitting that the Captain of our salvation should be made perfect through suffering. Though He was a Son, He learned obedience through what He suffered.

‘May the LORD bless you and keep you; — Numbers 6:24

The Aaronic blessing —'The Lord bless you and keep you' — is a Gospel promise in Old Testament clothing. The blessing of the Lord makes rich, and He adds no sorrow with it. He blesses the righteous and surrounds them with favor as with a shield. The Lord is your keeper — He won't slumber or sleep. He keeps you as the apple of His eye.
