In bringing many sons to glory, it was fitting for God, for whom and through whom all things exist, to make the author of their salvation perfect through suffering. — Hebrews 2:10

The Spirit gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life. — John 6:63

God's word is the Spirit's instrument of new birth, making believers the firstfruits of a restored creation. The letter of the law only condemns, while the Spirit's word cleanses the church and presents her holy before Christ. Every word Jesus speaks carries this life-giving power, so those who treasure His promises walk in genuine purity.

not stealing from them, but showing all good faith, so that in every respect they will adorn the teaching about God our Savior. — Titus 2:10

The gospel changes more than a person's standing with God; it reshapes the whole of life so that others can see the reality of divine grace. Human conduct serves as a living witness to the Creator's character, revealing the transforming power of the gospel to a watching world. For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, — 1 Timothy 2:5

The singularity of the mediator means our access to God rests entirely on what Christ has done in history, never on what we contribute. This exclusivity lifts the burden of salvation off our shoulders and places it fully on the Son. Because our standing is anchored in His finished work, we are free from the fear that we might need another path to the Father.

and we will receive from Him whatever we ask, because we keep His commandments and do what is pleasing in His sight. — 1 John 3:22

Pleasing God begins where all true worship begins: faith in His goodness and His promise to reward those who seek Him. The flesh can offer nothing acceptable, yet God delights in His people, cherishing humble hearts and thankful voices. His mercy in Christ makes our whole lives a living sacrifice of worship.

may the LORD cause His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; — Numbers 6:25-26

The face of God turned toward you in Christ is no distant glow. It is the personal attention of the Creator resting on His people. Because the Son radiates the Father's glory, we can know exactly how God feels about us: we see peace in His eyes. The blessing we crave is a person we already have — Jesus Himself.

Jesus wept. — John 11:35

The Incarnation joins divine power to human weakness, so the God who rules all things is the God who has wept. Because Christ entered fully into our sorrows, suffering becomes a place where His presence draws near. His tears assure us that every human grief is held within His redemptive care.
