Humanity has two federal heads, Adam and Christ, and every person belongs to one of them. In Adam, death's reign is the sentence passed on all; in Christ, the obedience of One becomes the verdict of life for the many. Your standing before God is never neutral—it is either the old humanity under condemnation or the new creation joined to the Last Adam. Grace does not merely repair the damage of the fall; it inaugurates a new humanity whose head lives to give life.
