On January 30, 2013, Brad Schmidt gave a presentation to parents of 6-12 grade students about the issue of sexual purity among teens, and how parents can better equip their sons and daughters to deal with temptation in a healthy way. This is an updated version of the talk originally given in May of 2011.

Ed reminds us that Pope John Paul the Great made it clear that the Christian's spiritual life is supposed to be contemplative, charismatic, Marian, and Eucharistic. All four elements should be present in every Christian's life.

For most of us, our parents made the choice to have us baptized when we were infants. At some point, though, we need to make the choice to make our Baptismal commitment our own and to continue to make acts of surrender to Jesus as King and Lord of our lives.

Homily given at the 11:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday, January 13, 2013, the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, by Fr. Frank Pavone, president of Priest for Life. Fr. Pavone reminds us that Jesus was anointed by the Holy Spirit at His Baptism to bring "glad tidings to the poor." Christ became man to become one with us; we must be one with Him in His mission to the poor and the world. None are poorer than the children in the womb. Christ is with us, to empower us to do what is right. We must reach out to those pregnant and in need, as well as those who have had abortions, and say, "I am with you," and replace their despair with hope.

The first talk in the Fundamentals of Catholic Living seminar, given by Deacon Dan Foley on Friday, January 18, 2013, at Christ the King Catholic Church as part of the Upper Room Ministry. Dcn. Dan introduces this seminar, a revised version of the "Foundations in Catholic Living" seminar offered in Fall 2012. Both seminars are based on earlier classes prepared for ecumenical audiences, but revised to include material specific to Catholics. This seminar, which is for those who have already met the Lord Jesus and accepted Him as personal Lord and Savior, is intended to answer the question, "Where do I go from here?" This first talk is devoted to the question, "How do I love God in the Heart of the Church?"
