Satheesh encourages us to see ourselves in Lazarus, who was raised from the dead by Jesus after four days. God helps us, but He does it in His own time. We are people of the resurrection, but it does not mean that we will not suffer. We must stay close to Jesus, and let God work in His own time.

Satheesh notes that in both the first reading and the Gospel, the people are thirsty. The drink that Jesus gives us will give us eternal life. Just as Jesus helped the woman at the well see herself, He helps us also to see ourselves when we come into His presence. No one ever really sees oneself until he sees oneself in the presence of Christ.

Homily given at the 4:30 p.m. Mass on Saturday, March 2, 2013, the Third Sunday of Lent, by Fr. Satheesh Caniton Alphonse of the Servants of Charity. Fr. Satheesh reflects on today's readings, noting that all three readings remind us of the grace of God. The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ is the highest act of God's love for us. During Lent we should be thinking of all that God has done for us, and how He wants us to respond. We should be thankful to God for pouring His grace upon us and giving us the time to repent.
