God is a big boy.. God can take it. Can we? We make a tragic mistake as Jesus followers when we think we should experience justice and happiness as a result of our faithfulness. We plaster on our "ministry smile" because we know Jesus is good...and therefore we "should" be happy. But we are not..we are hurting. We are grieving. We will suffer, we will endure trials. Scripture tells us that this will be to God's glory and our good. "Will be." But it hurts now! And in our pain and struggle, God invites us in. We can yell, cry, and wail. This life is not fair. But God is. Can we be real (This is the real truth of the Gospel)... and endure? Ditch the "ministry smile." Find the faith to be vulnerable and trust.

I can only imagine how incredible Eden was. I picture lush vegetation, a shining sun, and a freshness to every breath taken. And then there is the walks with God where we are open and honest. My heart tells me I was made for Eden. But we don't live in Eden anymore. In this world, we know brokenness and we hope for healing. We live in the shadow of Heaven, and this isn't it. Grief is our reminder that we are made for something else, somewhere else, someone else. This isn't it...yet. We must wait for heaven. But we do not wait alone. Ask God to remind you of His promise and presence in the midst of our grief.
