God desires to dwell with His people. He calls Solomon to build a temple in which His presence would reside. However, our access to God's presence was limited due to our sin and His majesty. Now, because of Jesus, we are temples of God's Spirit and have joy and peace in His presence.

Although God was supposed to be the true King and Ruler of Israel, they instead opted for an earthly and political king. However, God used this rejection to eventually bring about Jesus, the eternal King of all. We are called to put our trust in Him and Him alone.

The period of the Judges was a downward spiral of evil and oppression. Even still, God met the Israelites in their mess and delivered them time and time again. That same God meets us in our mess, delivers us, and uses us in our weakness.
