Hell is not something most people like to talk about for very long, as it can become a very dark topic. It is not talked about in churches very much, and when it is, usually the focus is on how bad hell will be.
Here at Christian Theories Podcast, we attempt to take a different approach. In this episode, Lonnie and Sheridan talk about 3 different views on hell. These 3 views are:
1. Traditional
2. Annihilationism
3. Reconciliationism
Most Christians believe in the Traditional view, which involves eternal punishment. But there are 2 other views that can be argued from a biblical basis.
Annihilationism is the idea that hell is temporary, followed by the death of soul.
Reconciliationism is the idea that hell is temporary, followed by reconciliation to God.
In all of these views, hell exists and is a horrible place. The 2 questions these alternate views ask is "Is Hell really forever?" and if not, "What happens after that?"
This information comes from a lecture given by Steve Greg, author of the book "All You Want to Know About Hell".
Lonnie and Sheridan try to give a fair argument for all of these views and give plenty of references in scripture for all 3. In the end, it is up to you to decide which one makes the most sense.
If you are serious about trying to understand these views and the arguments for and against them, grab a pen and paper and write some of these references down so you can look at them later, as we go through them pretty fast.
