Two new apprentices, Chipmunk and Sprout, working in the Great Toy Workshop, discover that the toys are suffering from both Intent Removal and Chromatic Starvation. Chipmunk's plush toys are emitting only dry, papery sighs instead of squeaks, and Sprout finds that the paint on the wooden soldiers has turned a uniform, inert gray. They recognize this as a systematic conceptual erasure mirroring failures reported in other sectors of the facility, such as the Joy Regulator and the wrapping ribbons. Realizing that standard protocol is obsolete against this adaptive threat, they decide to violate strict safety regulations to investigate the deepest levels. Their plan is to use the forbidden ventilation shaft behind the Assembly Loom, which offers a direct route toward Sub-Level Three, where foundational materials are stored, in a desperate attempt to check the status of the emergency Spark. Sprout descends first, followed by Chipmunk guarding the emergency brake lever, leaving the fate of the workshop's last hope hanging on the silent loom.
