Day 226 | Jeremiah 51:15-58; 2 Kings 24:10-17; 2 Chronicles 36:10; 1 Chronicles 3:10-16; 2 Chronicles 36:11-14; Jeremiah 52:1-3a; 2 Kings 24:18-20a; Jeremiah 37:1-10
In today’s reading, God declares judgment against Babylon, the world power He used to discipline His people. Though Babylon seemed unstoppable, God promises its total destruction—its walls leveled, its gods disgraced, and its cities ruined. In contrast to the living Creator, the idols of men are powerless and breathless lies. Meanwhile, Judah continues its downward spiral as King Zedekiah refuses to humble himself, ignoring God’s prophet Jeremiah. Yet even in disobedience, we see God’s mercy as He responds to cries for help. Still, the consequences remain. God is patient, but He always deals with sin.
