This episode is a discussion about the seasons analogy of the menstrual cycle. We first heard this analogy on a fantastic episode of the Deliciously Ella podcast with Maisie Hill and later did some further research reading Maisie Hill's book and blog. This chat follows on from that, so we recommend checking those resources out first!
We both find cycle tracking to be insightful and empowering, as well as treating ourselves with more kindness and understanding as a result, so we really wanted to share our thoughts and experiences with you in the hope that it will help you get to know yourselves - and those around you - better.
We are not professionals in this area so the following discussion is purely anecdotal. Our aim is to share resources that have really helped us and discuss our own experiences as it can be truly empowering to understand your body, your cycle and its effect on your mental health.
Working with our bodies, rather than against them, so that life flows better
Why we love the seasons analogy and what it has gifted us
Which activities we’re drawn to and the emotions we experience in each season
How it affects the production of the podcast (juicy behind the scenes info!)
Living IN your body not against it - it’s your home! Work with it the more you understand itl
We encourage: tracking your cycle, changing your vocabulary, starting conversationsWe're not crazy - we're cyclical beings!
We really recommend reading this blog post from Maisie's website. We mentioned an episode from the Shelf Help podcast with HEAL creator Kelly Noonan Gores - you should definitely check it out!
