The Church Drunk Summer Reading List officially kicks into high gear as Dizzy & Ges tackle the first book on the list - The Yiddish Policemen's Union by Michael Chabon. If you have ever thought to yourself, "Hey, what if Sitka had become Jerusalem West during World War II...wouldn't that be cool" then this is the book for you! So pour yourself something cold and kosher (if that's your style) and pull up a chair for Episode 42!

We here at Church Drunk are big fans of summer cocktails (as well as the cocktails that accompany fall, winter, and spring!), but when we are not drinking ourselves cross-eyed you are likely to find us stretched on a hammock and reading a good book. We are, in the end, hopelessly spiritual book worms, and it is from literature that we draw our super powers (Ges can tread water in a pint of Guinness for hours on end, and Diz can burn a hole right through you with a single gaze...sometimes even on purpose!). And so, we have declared that Season 5 will be the Church Drunk Summer Reading List! Each episode will cover a different book. Want to know what they all are? Summer has arrived! The days are long, the nights are warm, and it is just about time for Church Drunk to kick into another season of podcast goodness. Well folks, the long journey of Lent has led us here to Good Friday (which, for the thousandth time, is really not that good - perhaps someday we English speakers can join the billions of other people around the world who call it Holy Friday). It is a day of prayer and reflection and joining our own suffering to the ultimate sacrifice of Christ on the cross...and if you're Dizzy & Ges it is also a day for cocktails, because that's what most days are for.
