Join us today as we begin our study of one of the shortest Come Follow Me weeks we've come up to but no less rich in insights! We consider the stance of Korihor and we reflect on why Mormon included the incident of Korihor in this record. 

Gerald N Lund: “If Mormon had included nothing but those [Korihor’s] teachings, they would have been of great value to us. But he did more than that. He also included Alma's answer to Korihor. . . .

“The first thing to note is that Alma does not get into a philosophical debate with Korihor. He does not talk about metaphysics or axiology or epistemology. He does not allow himself to get pulled onto the ground that Korihor tries to define as the area of debate. There is a great lesson in that. Alma teaches that we should combat false philosophies with revelation and doctrine, not with academic debate”

Alma so expressed this thought: ‘That perhaps I may be an instrument in the hands of God to bring some soul to repentance … is my joy’ (Alma 29:9)”

Today we study Ammon’s wonderful excitement and joy over the service that he has been able to offer in his missionary stint. We consider what lessons we can learn about joy from his words and we reflect on the gratitude we can have for the mercy we're given by God. 

Richard G Scott: “When memory of prior mistakes encroached upon Ammon’s mind, he turned his thoughts to Jesus Christ and the miracle of forgiveness. Then his suffering was replaced with joy, gratitude, and thanksgiving for the Savior’s love and forgiveness. Please, go and do likewise. Do it now so that you can enjoy peace of conscience and peace of mind with all their attendant blessings”

Join us as we continue our study of the conclusion of the missionary efforts of the sons of Mosiah. We reflect on the mighty change that has taken place in the hearts of the Anti-Nephi-Lehies and we consider what we can learn from their conduct for the rest of their lives. 

Neal A Maxwell: “Total morality must concern itself both with man’s relationships with God and with his fellowmen. In Alma 27:27 we read of Church members of another age who ‘ . . .were also distinguished for their zeal towards God, and also towards men; for they were perfectly honest and upright in all things. . . ‘ These members looked upon the shedding of blood with ‘the greatest abhorrence,’ but they did not look upon death ‘with any degree of terror’ because of their ‘views of Christ and the resurrection.’ The gentleness and integrity that are borne of the perspective of the gospel are truly impressive when one sees them in others. In this fragment of history we see an impressive statement about an entire group who bore up under persecution in a time of tribulation without losing their love of God and man”

Do you and I still possess weapons of rebellion that keep us from becoming converted unto the Lord? If so, then we need to repent now”

Join us as we conclude our study this week of Alma 17-22. We consider how Aaron's missionary experience differed from Ammon and we reflect on the change that had taken place in King Lamoni’s father. 

President Henry B Eyring: "When you touch the hearts of people you serve, you won’t do everything exactly the way Aaron did. But you will do some of the same things. You will try to help them feel that God loves them by the way you treat them. You will be humble so that they are more likely to choose to be meek and lowly of heart. You will teach the word of God, when the Spirit prompts you, in a way that testifies of God’s love for them and their need for the atonement of Jesus Christ. And you will teach them commandments they can keep. That is why, when you go into the mission field, you learn to commit those you teach to pray or to read the Book of Mormon or to come with you to a sacrament meeting or to be baptized. You know that when they keep commandments they plant the seed. And you know that it will grow, their souls will be expanded, and that when that happens their faith will increase."
