Fr. Stuart's homily explains how our relationship and prayer life change over time with God depending on our season of life. As you grow as a disciple, these changes will happen more and it is important to adapt to them. It is a conscious effort we have to make to take up our cross each day. Our crosses will also change as time goes on, and we can continue to conform ourselves to Jesus Christ. It is a daily choice to take up our cross to meet the challenges of the present day.

Fr. Vince's homily encourages us to recall a time when we realized we had fallen in love with Jesus. In the first reading, Jeremiah became the enemy of the people he was trying to save. Even from all the hurt, he cannot stop proclaiming the word of God because of the love he has for God. Fr. Vince also asks us if we love God enough to do his will. Peter tells Jesus he will not let him die for them. However, Jesus tells him to get behind him because Peter is thinking not like God does but that of humans.

Fr. Vince Fernandez's homily explains the gospel and the true meaning of Peter's answer of knowing Jesus as "Christ, the Son of the living God." This truth was revealed to him through God by Peter's faith. Jesus is establishing his foundation on this statement. Jesus gives the keys of the church to Peter because no matter what happens the church will not fail. The church will succeed because Jesus is faithful where humans can falter.

Fr. Stuart Crevcoure's homily talks about the importance of his personal conviction of his faith and how this is necessary for us to come to know the Lord. In the gospel, Jesus asks his disciples, "Who do you say that I am?" Peter answers, "You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God." Fr. Stuart emphasizes the importance of finding this answer within ourselves, to know him in our heart.

Deacon Kevin's Maloney's homily explains the importance of perseverance in prayer, and God knows what we need. We should give our all to God in prayer in hopes that He will provide.

Fr. Stuart Crevcoure's homily explains that the Solemnity of Mary's Assumption into Heaven is a reminder for all of us that the ultimate goal is Heaven. Mary's Yes to God should encourage all of us that we too will share in the great resurrection of the dead.

Fr. Stuart's homily explains that the world we live in is constantly changing, moving, and distracting. However, God is outside of all these things in small, quiet moments. Fr. Stuart urges us to listen to God's whisper in still moments. We should listen in prayer for the Lord and discern His will for us.

Fr. Stuart's homily compares the struggle to feed the multitude of people who showed up to hear Jesus preach to the increase in people joining the church's OCIA program and the budget for food. Many times people come to Saint Mary's because they knew someone who was Catholic or was invited by a Catholic friend. Parishioners are encouraged to bring someone to Mass the weekend of August 22nd and 23rd. The food in the gospel was more than enough for the multitudes, and Jesus can then transform our own invitations to others.

Fr. Vince's homily encourages parishioners to invite people they know to Mass. He explains that many of us fear judgement and rejection when doing so, but the reward could be so much greater. In the gospel, Jesus can turn 5 loaves and 2 fish to feed 5,000 people. What more could He do with our simple invitation to Mass? Many people are afraid they aren't Catholic enough or wouldn't say the right thing, but Jesus is more than capable of transforming our efforts.

Fr. Vince Fernandez's homily talks about Sunday's gospel. Jesus explains that faith is a great treasure or pearl to be cherished when found. Fr. Vince explains that the men who find these items sell all their possessions to own it, sacrificing what they own trusting that what they will obtain is so much greater. We often are afraid of putting all of our trust into the Lord for fear of it not yielding what we want it to or not being enough. How can each of us give over each part of our lives to God?
