Fr. Stuart's homily explains that the world we live in is constantly changing, moving, and distracting. However, God is outside of all these things in small, quiet moments. Fr. Stuart urges us to listen to God's whisper in still moments. We should listen in prayer for the Lord and discern His will for us.

Fr. Stuart's homily compares the struggle to feed the multitude of people who showed up to hear Jesus preach to the increase in people joining the church's OCIA program and the budget for food. Many times people come to Saint Mary's because they knew someone who was Catholic or was invited by a Catholic friend. Parishioners are encouraged to bring someone to Mass the weekend of August 22nd and 23rd. The food in the gospel was more than enough for the multitudes, and Jesus can then transform our own invitations to others.

Fr. Vince's homily encourages parishioners to invite people they know to Mass. He explains that many of us fear judgement and rejection when doing so, but the reward could be so much greater. In the gospel, Jesus can turn 5 loaves and 2 fish to feed 5,000 people. What more could He do with our simple invitation to Mass? Many people are afraid they aren't Catholic enough or wouldn't say the right thing, but Jesus is more than capable of transforming our efforts.

Fr. Vince Fernandez's homily talks about Sunday's gospel. Jesus explains that faith is a great treasure or pearl to be cherished when found. Fr. Vince explains that the men who find these items sell all their possessions to own it, sacrificing what they own trusting that what they will obtain is so much greater. We often are afraid of putting all of our trust into the Lord for fear of it not yielding what we want it to or not being enough. How can each of us give over each part of our lives to God?

Fr. Stuart Crevcoure's homily focuses on the parables in the gospel that compares finding the faith like a treasure in a field. This example makes us reflect on what we ought to strive for. Our faith is the very foundation of who we are and shapes our life. Jesus says in the gospel that we are meant to value it over everything else.

Fr. Stuart's homily discusses the distinction between the weed and wheat within ourselves, and sometimes it is hard for us to differentiate between the two. There are good graces that God has sown within our souls, but there is also temptation and sin in us as well. In eliminating the weeds, this would effectively take away our free will and choice to love God freely. We must concentrate on the things that will yield a harvest for God thus doing God's will.

Fr. Vince Fernandez's homily explains the gospel and the parable of sorting the wheat from the weeds. Every person is fundamentally good being made in the image and likeness of God. In our fallen nature, we are susceptible to temptation from the devil. However, we do not lose our fundamental good nature. In this life, we have a patient God who gives us time to cultivate and nurture our soul, especially through confession. God gives us the grace to change us in a supernatural way in the sacraments.

Fr. Vince Fernandez explains in his homily that God's word always works so long as we trust in Him. When His grace is sent out, it is always effective. Fr. Vince encourages us to slow down and "trust the process" in our spiritual life. God doesn't wait until the soil of your interior life is perfect, and His word is powerful enough to do what man cannot do on his own.

Fr. Stuart Crevcoure talks about the gospel and the parable of the seeds sown in different soils. Each ground has a different environment where the seed either takes root and beard fruit or dries up and dies. Fr. Stuart Crevcoure also talks about how sometimes seeds are able to survive in unideal conditions much like the Christian faith in areas of persecution. He encourages us to be receptive to the word of God even when we feel like He can't do much with us. God always finds a way to make his purpose known.

Fr. Vince Fernandez explains what happens when a nation overlooks God and assumes it can do anything without God. The dignity and survival of America hinges on whether it upholds the dignity of every human life as quoted by Pope St. John Paul II. Our founding fathers knew that each person was created equal with unalienable rights. Each person was created in the image and likeness of God.
