Some of us are anxious about peace - we worry that it could be shattered at any moment. Advent is a reminder about the durability and trustworthiness of the peace Christ brings to us. It is not a fluke or an accident, it is not based on human consensus or mutual peacemaking, and it will not fail. The covenant of peace God makes with us is rooted in his unshakable good will toward us, and relies not on humans managing to reconcile but on God’s intervening and transforming love. If "to live is Christ", what should living look like? Is it actually possible to "rejoice always" and "be anxious for nothing"? We close out our 9-week series on Philippians by looking at chapter 4, where Paul prescribes some practices that teach us how to endure the highs and lows of life in a posture of deep dependence on Christ. Luke Elmers teaches from Philippians 4:4-13.

Paul’s ambition is know Christ and the power of his resurrection. But there is a fullness of knowing Christ that will only be possible when Christ returns and transforms our bodies to be like his glorified body. Therefore, the faithful in Christ must continue to press on towards the prize of participating in Christ’s resurrection. In today’s sermon, Chandler McCosh walks us through three encouragements from Philippians 3:12-21: press on towards the prize, follow the footsteps of the faithful, and rest in the promise of resurrection.

Christians celebrate saints as models or heroes for our own lives. On All Saints’ Sunday, Pastor Jordan Kologe focuses on the virtues of friendship exemplified by three saints found in Philippians 2:19–30 as they model the ultimate friend, Jesus Christ.

Real change doesn’t start with trying harder—it starts with living in a better story. In Philippians 2:12-18, Paul offers three true stories that can change how we see ourselves, our community, and even our suffering.

In Philippians 2:5-11, Paul stops writing a letter and starts writing a Hymn. Face-to-face with Jesus, he can do nothing but worship his humility, obedience, and glorious Lordship. Paul has been patiently admonishing his brothers and sisters in Philippi to stop living as citizens of Rome and start living as citizens of heaven - this is his why, or rather his who: the glorious Christ who is humility incarnate. 

Being called a Roman colony, along with holding Roman citizenship, was the great pride of the city of Philippi. But where is our most important citizenship held? Who do we truly belong to? In this sermon, Chandler McCosh walks us through Philippians 1:27–2:4, where the Apostle Paul urges the church in Philippi to live together as citizens of God's kingdom, first and foremost. Citizens of heaven stand together for the gospel and live in a posture that reflects the gospel.
