  • A Trustworthy Steward Plans – Week Three
    Sermon Notes
    Adventure of Trust
    “A Trustworthy Steward Plans”
    Proverbs 21:5
    God is a planner
God’s plan for our salvation started before creation.
Jesus lived according to God’s plan.
The adventure of trust is learning to trust God and His plans.
God’s plan for teaching us how to trust is to entrust us.
    God calls us to plan
Biblical wisdom calls for wise planning.
A plan is a pathway to get us where we want to be.
A financial plan is a budget; a plan for God’s money.
    Money is a discipleship issue.
God’s Word provides the wisdom we need to plan financially
A biblical plan to help you be a Trustworthy Steward of God’s money:
See where the money is going
    Spend less than you earn
    Serve God not money
Start returning to God His tithe
Save every time you get paid
    Slash consumer debt
Set some aside to be generous
Core CHRISTlike Characteristic: Trustworthy Steward of God’s Resources/Living Surrendered
    LifeGroup Questions
Check in: How has God been using your devotional time?
Icebreaker: In general, do you prefer to plan or go with the flow?
Are you an over packer or an under packer?
When you are going away camping or on vacation, do you make a list, or do you just start packing?
Be honest: where are you really placing your trust?
    How do you know?
Agree or disagree: “If you don’t trust God with your money, you don’t trust God.”
And, why do you agree or disagree?
What do you think are God’s goals for your finances?
Is it God’s goal for us to become wealthy? How do you know?
What is your plan for becoming a trustworthy steward?
Studies show that continuing to increase your income does not continue to increase your contentment after a certain point.
Why do you think this is the case?
What’s the difference between becoming wealthy and being a good steward? Does being a good steward result in wealth?

  • A Trustworthy Steward Serves – Week Two (Elyria Campus)
    Sermon Notes
    Adventure of Trust
    “A Trustworthy Steward Serves”
    1 Peter 4:10-11
God entrusts each of us with spiritual gifts.
When God gives us a gift, He’s gracing us.
A spiritual gift is a special ability given by the Holy Spirit to every Christian to enable them to minister and serve as a part of the body of Christ.
When God gives us a gift, He’s trusting us.
The only way to be a trustworthy steward is to use what God has given for the purpose God intends.
God expects each of us to serve.
God leads us by His Spirit to make serving a part of our lifestyle.
The Spirit leads us to serve in structured ways.
The Spirit leads us to serve in spontaneous ways.
God has given us all we need to start serving:
When we receive more than we serve we become fat.
When we serve more than we receive we become faint.
When we serve with what we receive we become faithful.
God empowers each of us with strength.
    By His Spirit
    For His Glory
God is glorified when each of us use whatever He gives us to serve others.

  • A Relationship of Trust – Week One
    Sermon Notes
    Adventure of Trust
    “A Relationship of Trust”
    Mark 12:13-17
God is arranging life to teach us to trust him.
God Wants Us to Come to Him
    With Honesty
    With Trust
God Wants Us to Give to Him
Our lives: Because we are made in His image
All we have: Because everything belongs to Him
Our money: Because money always involves trust
God Wants Us to Trust in Him
    God is the Trustworthy Owner
We are to be Trustworthy Stewards
The Adventure of Trust is the process of becoming a Trustworthy Steward.
Learning to be a trustworthy steward is part of learning to be more like Jesus: stewardship is a discipleship issue!
God entrusts us in order to teach us to trust.
Core CHRISTlike Characteristic: Trustworthy Steward of God’s Resources/Living Surrendered
    LifeGroup Questions
Check in: How has God been using your devotional time?
Icebreaker: Who in your life would you absolutely trust to catch you in a trust fall? Who wouldn’t you trust?
    Why?
Have you ever borrowed something and were embarrassed about how you used it when you gave it back?
Or, have you ever felt particularly good about an item you returned?
Why do we find it difficult to trust God?
What does it mean that God has made us to trust?
How do you see this principle at work in your life?
What are some things that God owns that are hard to let Him have?
If someone looked at your finances, what would they conclude about your view of God?
Is there anything holding you back from giving your heart completely to God?
