The only way to liberation for all people is to embody a transformational Unitarian Universalism, that is, to be open to what change may bring to your heart, body, mind, and spirit and to be willing to embrace and uncharted path. So far it has been a strange and stressful summer. Covid cases are rising across the Southern states and rage over racial injustice is mounting across our nation. Where do we turn for sustenance right now? What does it mean to find connection in this moment? This week, Meredith Barber will reflect on pathways and practices to deepen our relationships with ourselves and with the world around us.

It is not uncommon to talk about the call of a minister or other religious professional. But what about you? What are you called to do? Who are you called to be? Drawing inspiration from the movie Moana, let's think about our own calls and journeys.

"Can’t we all just get along?" This was the plea of the late Rodney King as Los Angeles caught fire during an uprising in 1992 after the police officers who beat him there were acquitted. In answer to his question, still so relevant today: We can’t and won’t get along until we explore beyond our own experiences and our own narratives.

How do we endure as spiritual people during this time of upheaval and difficulty? What is our role as Unitarian Universalists in the push for social change? And what do you do when there are cracks in the wall of the Temple?

Each year, the high school youth take responsibility for all aspects of a Sunday worship service. Planning and preparation for Youth Sunday is done with the help of adult advisors and is an important part of the Religious Education Program.

What does it mean to resist despair? How can we work together to create hope in these difficult times? And why did Rev. Sam spend so much time at the mall as a teenager?

How do we accompany each other in our grief? Is it even possible to "get it right" when everything seems to be all wrong?

The sermon theme for May is Acceptance. During this difficult time, what does it mean to accept the reality that we are living with while still challenging global injustice?

We’re virtually visiting The First Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Ann Arbor, Michigan, this week. The theme of the service is Re-member. The ways we once came together have so rapidly changed. Still, the reasons which compel us to build communities of connection will only grow in the days to come. Injustice observes no social distance; compassion still calls us to accomplice its mission.
