We conclude our top ten lessons learned about following God's plans from Acts 10 & 11. The story of the Centurion Cornelius and the Apostle Peter teach us about God's Spirit in action, about how to handle criticism from others and about our need for oneness in the church.

Today we continue our mini-resolution series with the resolution to rely upon God and not to go solo on our own. We will consider many different verses from God's Word and discover that we were never designed to be independent from the God Who created us and loves us.

We revisit the topic of miracles. We last considered miracles in Acts 3 back in July, Then we learned that the world often responds with rage. But what should our response to miracles be? And why does my belief in miracles - one way or the other - matter to my faith and to the faith of those around me?

We continue our resolution series we began last week. On the first Sunday of each month of 2019 we will talk about a character of God that we humans can also emulate, with the Holy Spirit's help. This month our mini-resolution is "Love Not Lust." We'll talk about the meaning of each according to the Bible. Then we'll talk about practical ways we can keep our resolution this January.

"I resolve..." How many years have we begun with a resolution, only to discover that our resolve has dissolved within a few weeks (days?) Many are so disillusioned by the whole resolution idea, they don't even try anymore. In this sermon we talk about a resolution that God wants for us and that He will help us to keep - to live out God's will. How do we do that? And what do we even mean when we say "God's will?" Be prepared for an out-of-this-world resolution for 2019!

Immanuel - "God With Us." This is God's very special present to us. We remember how He gave His Son to us as the baby Jesus in the manger. This idea of Immanuel, God with us, is something we can give away too! What a great gift to give ourselves fully away while filled with God's Holy Presence in our lives. But can we give away Something or Someone we have not first received ourselves. Are you ready to receive Him? Are you ready to give Him?

Christmas is a season of giving because God first gave His Son to us. We learned in Part 1 that Christmas can be a 365-days-a-year event if we continue to give Immanuel away to others by giving away the gift of ourselves. HOW do we do that is the topic of this Christmas message. Get ready for a very personal message from our pastor this week.

But have you considered the possibility of Christmas giving 365 days a year? God not only gave His Son, but He also gave us His Spirit. We think of Immanuel, or God with us, at Christmastime. But He never leaves us! What might this mean for how we give ourselves - and Him - away?
