As we enter the Christmas Advent season, we recall the words of the angel in each of his four appearances: "Fear not!" When encountering a holy being of great power, it's normal to be afraid. Just like when we encounter any other unexpected change in our lives. We'll consider four fears and how we handle them. In part 1 we consider the fear of disappointment and the fear of embarrassment.

Let's face the truth that contentment can be illusive. It has little to do with our circumstances. Sometimes the most well-off are the most discontented. In this sermon we take a deep dive into Philippians 4:11-13 to discover the Apostle Paul's secret to contentment. Perhaps today is your day to make every day a Thanksgiving day!

Our Christian faith is so unique. We don't just learn the facts of our faith. We also learn the why's behind the facts... and even more importantly we meet the Who behind the faith. The concept of service and the concept of freedom would seem to be in opposition to one another. If one is a servant then he must not be free. Or if one is free, how can he also be a servant? We discover that the Biblical concepts of service and freedom are not mutually exclusive. Indeed the more free we are, the more we can serve our Lord. We examine Paul's "free to serve" lifestyle and then consider three ways we might free ourselves more to serve.

We consider a subject few pastors like to even think about - why and when to change the church in which you minister. Notice we didn't say anything about "attend." Every Christian is a minister using his or her unique spiritual gifts, heart passions, abilities and talents, personality, and experiences. Sometimes it becomes necessary to change churches to pursue the ministry that God is calling you into. Open your Bible to Acts 18 as we encounter the change Paul made that ultimately changed the course of human history!

We make a new resolution for November: to live with courage. The Bible has much to say on this topic. We'll consider five stories of courage, three from the Old Testament and two from the New Testament. We hope to walk away with new insights into what courage really means for the Christ-follower.

Submission is not something we like to talk about in today's modern times. We all wish to be in charge. We want to dominate our circumstances. Yet the Bible instructs us many times that we should submit - to God and to one another. What is submission all about? Why does it matter? And should we go about it?
