Continuing our conversation about spiritual abuse we dive into the topic of "Church Hurt" with our good friend Josh Lofthus, co-host of "The Reformatory" podcast.
There comes a point when the abuse has gone on for so long, and the pain is too unbearable, that the only option is to leave your church; when Jesus becomes literally all you have because the healing won’t happen at your church.
What is “Church Hurt?” This is the damage that has been caused by the abuse, the wounds that have been inflicted by the abuser, and the pain and suffering the victim will experience while trying to heal. Spiritual abuse is the hardest form of abuse to heal from, and counsel, because the thing that brings the healing (Scripture/Gospel/Church) is the same thing that brought the hurt.

Continuing our series on Spiritual Abuse, listen as we discuss why we think it gets prolonged, and ask tough questions like: "Why is this the norm?" and “Why is no one talking about this stuff?”
Heath and Andrea joke about the "Gobbly-gook" Christians argue about on social media, reflect on a humorous mishap on the Greeting Team, and get tough on leaders who "guilt" spiritual abuse victims back to church.

When someone in the Church uses their theological, doctrinal or spiritual beliefs as a means to hurt another person of the faith, whether intentionally or not, that is Spiritual Abuse. Usually, this is a person of authority or influence in the Church, or in the life of the victim.
In this episode I discuss the affects of religious movements, cults and organizations that operate from the vantage points of guilt, compulsion and brainwashing. My wife, "The Mrs. Theological Coordinator," Andrea joins me again as we share more stories from our churches past, joke about seminars, and challenge church leaders to take proper care of Christ's bride.

Spiritual Abuse is when someone in the Church uses their beliefs as a means to hurt another person of the faith. Usually, this is a person of authority or influence in the Church. Sitting under abusive leaders for long periods of time can kill the desire to be in church.
My wife Andrea is back with me again to discuss four different types of church leadership that are spiritually abusive. Trigger Warning: one of them is misogynistic leadership.
Listen as we share testimonies, divulge the laughable mandates placed by leaders, while attempting to provide a means to begin the healing process for victims of spiritual abuse.

There is no such thing as the perfect church, or a perfect Christian, as the Church is a collection of imperfect people. But it is completely safe to say that Jesus blesses His people for being faithful to Him.
In this final episode of the series, and of the "Real Talk" show, we discuss the promises Christ gives to His people for having the endurance and anticipation for His return.
Heath also gives some final words of inspiration and bids "Farewell" to the show!
