The 64th Annual All Native Basketball Tournament, the biggest sporting event of the year in Northwest BC, kicked off in an amazing show of dance and wonder as the Gitxsan Nation opened the tournament with a thunderous entrance.

This year, the Community & Business Excellence Awards (CBEA) celebrates 100 years in Smithers. Pam is on the show today speaking with executive director of the smithers chamber of commerce Sheena Miller about the nomination process which is still open until tomorrow, Friday February 9th.

Pam speaks with BC Minister of Housing, Ravi Kahlon, Dan checks-in with the BC Housing community information session held in Smithers. Some residents expressed support for the proposed 40 unit Supportive Housing facility, while others, including adjacent property owners, expressed concerns.

The childcare situation in Smithers, and indeed across the province, is at an all time low and embroiled in the worse childcare crisis in a generation.

Over the past five years, scientists and researchers from Simon Fraser University have been trying to better understand changes to habitat, salmon and the impact of climate change throughout the Skeena Watershed.

The bonfire explosion at a New Years Eve party just outside of Smithers has rocked the community. Two boys are still suffering from serious injuries and four other teens have suffered significant injuries as well. The town has had to respond quickly.
