Cinema 5000

4,900 films watched so far! Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris, Marcel the Shell with Shoes On, and Minions:The Rise of Gru. All rated PG, all discussed for your ears! Plus, a quick mention about the Nightmare On Elm St. marathon at the Coolidge Corner Theater in Brookline, MA (not PG films, of course!)

Folks, I had covid! Loads of movies watched in isolation, as well as all the films I managed to see once I recovered. Thor: Love and Thunder, The Black Phone, The Phantom of the Open, and more! My voice is still recovering, so I may not sound my best.

Episode 20 - Horror special featuring Diabolique (1955), Diabolique (1996), Prince of Darkness, The Entity, The Uninvited (1944), and The Happiness of the Katakuris.

The second 2022 recap episode. Everything I rewatched between Feb 28th and June 26th, featuring Wall-E, Mac and Me, Scream 3, and The Northman. Were these films as good as the last time I watched them? Listen and you’ll find out.

Six New Releases! In order: Downton Abbey: A New Era, Lightyear, Cha Cha Real Smooth, Good Luck To You Leo Grande, Spiderhead, and Elvis. Whew! Its a long one. Correct: Elvis has scenes in Memphis, not Nashville

A trio of new releases! 2022’s Crimes of the Future, Memoria, and Fire Island - plus horror-ish features Rubber -and- Butcher, Baker, Nightmare Maker.

New films like Top Gun: Maverick and Watcher! Plus Gia Coppola’s Mainstream, Banana Split, Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation, and the action-packed Police Story (featuring Jackie Chan!) *correction* Police Story is from 1985

You voted, it’s here! A full commentary track for A Nightmare On Elm Street (2010). It was, in a way, a nightmare to record this. Enjoy!

Teenagers Nancy, Quentin, Kris, Jesse and Dean are all neighborhood friends who begin having the same dream of a horribly disfigured man who wears a tattered sweater and a glove made of knives. The man, Freddy Krueger (Jackie Earle Haley), terrorizes them in their dreams, and the only escape is to wake up. But when one of their number dies violently, the friends realize that what happens in the dream world is real, and the only way to stay alive is to stay awake.

Release date: April 30, 2010 (USA)

Director: Samuel Bayer

Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. Jack’s Back featuring James Spader. Men (the movie!). And lastly Hatching. A mixed bag of horror/thrillers… and coming soon, the A Nightmare On Elm Street (2010) commentary!

This week… I (sadly) have a number of terrible films to talk about. St. Elmo’s Fire, I’m With Lucy, QT8 (Tarantino Documentary), and Color Of Night starring Bruce Willis. Correction: I said Gwyneth Paltrow instead of Uma Thurman when discussing Kill Bill, whoops!
