  • IFF Boston Special: The Reciprocity Project
A discussion of the short film collection from The Reciprocity Project. Screened May 1 2022 at the Independent Film Festival of Boston.
“In Season One of the Reciprocity Project, storytellers and community partners created films in response to a question: what does 'reciprocity' mean to your community? In many Indigenous languages there is no word for reciprocity; rather, it's embedded in every aspect of existence for our peoples, connecting all beings, seen and unseen.” http://www.reciprocity.org for more information about the films. *Correction* there are seven films in The Reciprocity Project, not eight.

  • The Unbearable Weight of Unbearable Cinema
4,822 movies watched so far, saiiiilllling takes me away … to the movies: I checked out the 136 minute ride of Michael Bay’s Ambulance (… its good?!). Found myself grossed out by Killer Tongue (forgot to mention this one has loads of icky tongue sounds). Also witnessed The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. The question: was it Cage-worthy? And Waterworld - sink or swim?

  • The Lost City
A brief recap of a rewatch of Saturday Night Fever (an all-time fave). Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum star in The Lost City (comedy, allegedly). Robert Downey Jr. in The Pick-Up Artist. Julie Andrews calls Ann-Margaret out in the 90s tv movie Our Sons (also featuring Hugh Grant!)

  • MORBIUS … the one true Bat-Man
LB total so far: 4,815 movies. Here’s what I discuss: The Gucci-wearing Prince of Darkness himself Jared Leto stars in MORBIUS. Does it slay or does it suck? Plus newer releases The Outfit -and- Everything Everywhere All At Once. And finally, a couple older films I discovered on Shudder! Apologies about the beginning audio quality. It happens. Correction: Hell Night is about pledges in a mixed fraternity, not pledges from a separate frat and separate sorority.

  • The Batman Gets In Deep Water
A huge recap of everything I’ve seen since the last recap (since late February? Ooooof). Movies of all kinds, including Deep Water, After Yang, Infinite Storm, and The Batman. Also included: some exciting updates!

  • Hooray for Hollywood: A *DisneyCrypto* Oscars Special
ABC provided us the miserable sh*tshow of an Academy Awards broadcast … and thats just in the first hour! The 94th Annual Academy Awards took place in Los Angeles, CA on March 27th 2022. It was, sadly, a memorable show for a lot of the wrong reasons. Good for Dune though.

  • Apple+Cinema
AppleTV+ launched in 2019. As we near three years since the announcement of the service, what kinds of films have been released? Mallory discusses the grand experiment (as well as successes) of the world’s biggest technology company making and releasing their own movies.
