Today on the Cinema Gold Show, we dive into the latest box office news and give our review of Netflix's Day Shift starring Dave Franco, Jamie Foxx and Snoop Dog.

Day Shift is a ruthless, bloodthirsty romp through all the traditional vampire cliches. Garlic? Check. Aversion to sunlight? Check. But with a sun-drenched twist on the formula, director J.J. Perry takes a well-worn genre and dials it up to eleven.

This week on the box office report, Bullet Train makes its debut in theatres and finds its way on top. The top movie this week was Bullet Train, which opened to more than $30 million. Like last week, it’s not that that’s a very small amount of money, it’s more that nothing else made very good money beyond that.

We also give our review of the newest chapter in the Predator franchise with "Prey." Let us know your thoughts.

Jordan Peele’s Nope opened in theaters this weekend and pretty easily won the top spot at the box office, solidifying Peele’s status as the greatest horror director of all time (we’re being facetious on purpose, it’s a reference to a thing). The movie, which is kind of about movies and who makes movies and who gets swallowed up by the machine when movies get made, made $44 million in its debut, doubling what Thor: Love And Thunder made in second place despite playing in 600 or so fewer theaters.

We also give our thoughts on the Netflix Original The Gray Man, starring Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans.

This week on Netflix Roulette, we give our thoughts on The Take! A few years ago, Idris Elba and Game of Thrones star Richard Madden starred in an action/spy thriller called The Take (or Bastille Day) that had a hard time with its theatrical release due to the Paris terror attacks of 2015 and the 2016 Nice truck attack. Thanks to its recent debut on Netflix, however, The Take seems to be finding a second life on streaming.

The Man From Toronto follows the misadventures of a New York bum and an international assassin after their paths cross as a result of an AirBnB mix-up.

Films that manage to pleasantly exceed expectations are great! The Man From Toronto is exactly one of those types of films that I had very little hope of actually enjoying; I was aware of issues it had faced during production, but also, for the most part, I don’t really find Kevin Hart funny, so him being one of the top stars in a comedy had me bracing myself before it had even started.

But this actually made for some pretty fun casual viewing. The Man From Toronto would make for a good Friday night film with some company that you could share the more ridiculous laughs with.
