Season: Loving This Place
Speaker: Joshua Grace
Location: 2007 Frankford Ave.
About Talk: Littering and plogging help us understand that for some problems and callings, blame on individuals and self-improvement are limited Western paradigms that Jesus calls us beyond. If Jesus’ baptism can be understood as a connectedness to a place, our baptism and calling can also be to love our place in a connective way where incarnation outpaces gnostic docetism, symbiosis brings us beyond consumers surrounded by commodities, and sustainability can bring us beyond our self-centeredness. Fireweed, a local, nutritious, and edible pioneer species, demonstrates our purpose to remediate damaged places and propagate hope for Christ’s harmonious calling.
