  • 2956: Garden in Sarcelles (north of Paris)
France lockdown sound recorded by Hector Cavallaro.
"I live in Paris in a very small studio in Montreuil. Just before the confinement I decided to come to my girlfriend's house which has a garden and it seemed like a good idea to spent de quarantine here rather than in a small studio.
"We have each other's company and also the green areas to take a breath. We are privileged, our thoughts are with all of the people out there having a hard time and those giving it all for the rest of us..."

  • 2955: Morning treadmill
Kentucky, USA lockdown sound recorded by Janet Powell.
"My country is currently experiencing an uptick in coronavirus infections. In my local area, most "non-essential" businesses are closed, and everyday life has slowed to a crawl.
"Automobile and plane traffic are drastically reduced, making for excellent recording conditions of nature sounds. The experience is both terrifying and exhilarating, and when we emerge from this crisis, I hope society emerges with a greater sense of community and reshaped paradigms for life's essential priorities."

  • 2953: There's nobody around - Grand Central Station
New York lockdown sound recorded by Geoff Gersh.
"42nd Street right in front of Grand Central Station, NYC, Monday March 30, 2020 around 9:45pm.
"Just like inside the station, 42nd Street is usually buzzing with life: pedestrians, buses, taxis, trucks and passenger cars.
"At this moment in time, during the Coronavirus pandemic, the soundscape is different. You can actually count the individual vehicles and pedestrians that are passing by, something that would be impossible to do in normal times as the masses of people and vehicles all blend into one giant drone."

  • 2949: Se compran...
Mexico City lockdown sound recorded by Salamandria del Sol.
"You can hear the sound of a megaphone on a van that collects all kinds of old, used stuff, like mattresses, fridges, washing machines.
"This is a common sound you can hear in Mexico City. I'm listening to that from my room, after more than two weeks of self isolation.
"In my country they have announced just for days ago that no one should be leaving their houses for the rest of the month, but lots of people live on a day to day basis, like the ones that go on the van, so is very difficult for them to follow those orders. I feel sorry for them, and I wonder if they're scared about the situation. "
